Default Brembos turning green?

So there I was zainoing my golden brembos and I noticed that in some of the crevaces, there is a hint of green showing. Only noticeable from a foot away. Doesn't fake gold turn green after a while? Has anyone else noticed this problem? I would hate for the Gold paint to become green in three years.

is it a good idea to Zaino your calipers? I mean with the heat build up of the brakes + the heat which the rim will contain, i would imagine that Zaino would melt off.

we might need Dr. Z for a final judgement, but i don't believe you should be Zaino-ing your caliphers. just wash and dry thoroughly and clean off any brake dust.

I hadn't thought of Zainoing the calipers, but Zaino Z-2 or Z-5 on wheels is done all the time, along with a spritz of Z-6 Gloss Enhancer. Zaino can handle temps waaay over 300 degrees. Carnauba wax and the oils in it start to break down at around 150 degrees.

I am so glad I did Zaino them. I was impatient and only put on one coat of Z-2. But man oh man!!! They are blinding now! I've had the car for two weeks and previously, all the people that hadn't seen it, always commented on the color of the car. Now all the people that are seeing it for the first time go "THOSE ARE THE BRAKES?!!?" But enough about the zaino... what about the GREEN issue? Has anyone else noticed this with theirs?

Been there, done that. My Brembos (the orange part) are shiney and bright. No green for me.

Caution!!! Do not Zaino your rotors!!!

Remember the thread on another board where someone used Armor All on their tires..........the WHOLE tire, including the tread!

Brilliant.

I remember that Doc. Some kid over on IS300.net put Armor All on his tires, everywhere - tread and all, so they would be real black and shiny. He then proceeded to go out and lose control of his car while taking a right-hander and crash into a tree.

I don't think I would putting Zaino on my Brembo's either.

I used my index finger on the brembos to get every nook of the caliper, but not on anything else. I did put a generous amount of the tire gloss on my tires. A very small amount got on the tread. I'm talking about no further than one inch in from the side. I went for a slow drive around my block about an hour later to clean the tread. It was about 30 degrees. Took a 15mph turn and the back slipped a tad. It was really fun and scary at the same time! I tried to duplicate it, but with no success.

Safety first. I always go for a quick drive around my block after I wash and dry the car to make sure the brakes and tires are in working condition. It's also good for getting excess water out of the exhaust.

Thanks for the link. It was a funny blast from the past. He slicks up his tires with a silicone liquid, trashes his car, and wants to blame the tires!

The best post in that thread is when the kid threatens to come to the flamers place with his posse to beat him up and the flamer asks, "Will they have Amour All on their tires too?"

hahaha, your such a sarcastic bastard.

and whoever made the analogy to gold jewlery. few things, its the skin that turns green not the gold. and its due to acidic oils in your skin reacting with impurities in the gold.

however, since the brakes are neither skin, nor real gold in any way, thats not the problem.

Id guess just dirt, clean em up and it should be fine.

“hahaha, your such a sarcastic bastard”

That reminds me of an expression I once heard, “Would you rather be a sarcastic bastard or just a bastard?”
I don’t see anything sarcastic about my remarks aimed at Vqracer’s funny post and picture of the solid green Brembo brake.

“and whoever made the analogy to gold jewlery. few things, its the skin that turns green not the gold. and its due to acidic oils in your skin reacting with impurities in the gold.”

Pure genius. (Now that’s sarcasm).

“however, since the brakes are neither skin, nor real gold in any way, thats not the problem.”

Duh! Vqracer’s brakes aren’t really green either.

“Id guess just dirt, clean em up and it should be fine.”

Right afr0puff, I think everything will be ok, just keep them clean.

I’m glad we cleared everything up. After all we were just having some fun with afr0puff.

Ok, my camera really really sucks, so these aren't the best photos. It has no "focus" option like a disposable camera.
