Love the look of the Super Black...hate amount of time you need to spend to keep it looking great. Was wondering if the new 06 Magnetic Blacks were just as bad. Anyone know?

The darker the color, the harder it is to maintain. I haven't seen MB in person but for all practical purposes, it's still black.

Yea man, like he said. Black is black is black. It doesn't matter what they call it. Suck it up and get it as long as your willing to take care of it and put the work into. It is def one of the best looking colors when it's clean and you'll get tons of compliments. Or it'll look like crap if you let it get dirty.

Oh yea, now that i think of it they do make a lighter shade of black for the Z. Its called silver. lol (just messin with ya)

It's *MAGNETIC* black, not *MAGICAL* black. Of course it gets dirty.

Some people can't stand owning black, some people love it (me). Do your own thing...

Yeah, it is way easier. They call it MAGNETIC black because of a special coating that goes above the clear coat that uses positively charged ions to help repel dust particles. It's what they use on the steal bomber to keep it as black as possible during their missions. Really trick stuff!!!

(*cough* just kidding you)

Because Super Black is super hard to keep clean!

The magnetic black sucks even more dirt from the road than super black does.

I have a Z already....a Silverstone one. I love black cars and have thought about trading in for a black one....but I'm not sure I can commit the time that is needed to always keep it looking good. I know a lot of you left "witty" remarks...but in all honesty...looking at the two on the lots side by side...an 05 and an 06....the magnetic black didn't look as bad with all the metallic flakes in it, seems like swirls were harder to notice then on the Super Black. But thanks anyway for the attempts at humor.

I think a black car just definitely needs a good few layers of wax to keep it nice looking. Also you have to be willing to spend some time every week cleaning it and rewaxing if needed.

i think super black is harder, cuz the magnetic black has sparkles, which can at times draw ur attention away from the swirls!

I've had black cars with either a pearl or sparkle effect, it really doesn't effect how much effort it takes to make the car look great, it just adds some extra depth and style when it's done right. Same effort is required no matter what color black it is.

The key to maintaining a black car is to start with a good finish system (I use Zanios and love it). It takes 5 minutes a day with a cali duster to keep the road dust off and maybe once a week with a quick spray of Z-6 or Z-8. Then what you do on the weekends is up to you. Don't forget to stay on top of those nasty little bugs this time of year. They will eat away at your finish if you let them.

You can spend hours detailing or just a quick wash and spray. The routine will vary a little but as long as you put in 5 minutes a day and a little extra on the weekends you can keep it looking nice.

It is time well spent. Peoples eyes just pop when they see that black looking like it can. Nothing else looks as nice as black when its clean and shiney (IMO)

ENJOY THE RIDE

Magnetic Black attracts a lot of dust particles because it is magnetic. If you reverse the polarity on the battery, it will demagnetize the car and attract less dust.
