Detailing underhood...
Quick question for the guys who've detailed their engine bays....how exactly did you go about it? I've been considering doing this sometime really soon, but I don't feel like accidentally damaging something important in the process.
contact davidv. He has the cleanest engine bay eva! I think he uses a solution of 50% mr clean and 50% water, then rinses with distilled water and dry's. He will have more specifics.

In all seriousness, I was considering just using some Simple-Green-Automotive-soaked rags and carefully wiping down all the places that are particularly dirty (top of the plenum, engine/fluid covers, etc.), then doing the same with a water-soaked rag to rinse. Thoughts?

This is my method. I do not necessarily recommend that anyone use this method:
1. Rinse engine bay and underside of hood with a fine spray of water.

2. Prepare a spray bottle of 50 Mr. Clean/50 water.
3. Spray underside of hood and engine bay. Let sit for 10 minutes.

4. Agitate dirty areas with a assortment of brushes.

5. Rinse with fine water mist.

6. Dry with leaf blower.

7. Apply dressing to damp cloth, then wipe plastic engine bay parts.

I do not have half a dozen bottles of different dress-up. Mothers back-to-black seems to work well on just about everything.
