Hi
I just parked for the first night in my new dorm (college freshman) and when I went to go out to breakfast today I noticed there were random spots of tree zap on the hood and doors of my car. I tried using Mcguiars Quick Detailer to remove it, but it just smeared and even lightly used finger nails and didn't really do anything.
Is there any specific products you guys know of that would help me out??
Thanks

I use Goo gone or something like that. It works but takes a long *** time. I still got some on my car and im pretty annoyed about it. Im bout to go to a proffesional detailer and have em clean and wax the car.

I had the same issue... pine sap like little rain drops all over my car.. tried a couple of little things initally such as lighterfluid... would not even touch it.. took it to a detailer to ask them what they do... I was informed that only an experianced detailer can get it off.. talked to a friend who was a detailer... he told me the best way that will not even come close to damageing the paint is gasoline "dry gas" it is a cheap additive that some people usually use in their gas during the winter.. it is mainly an alcohol.. but I will say it worked like a charm.. (at least with pine sap) after removing the sap and a quick car wash... you would have never known it was there..

rightwinger,
Check out my thread which I posted last week: https://my350z.com/forum/cleaning-and-detailing/210165-tree-sap-removal.html
In a nutshell: Rain-X. Use it carefully. I had a terry towel which I used for the applicator. Pour a drop on the towel and just rub it gently in. Wipe dry, then wax the area! Use caution since rain-x isn't really ment for painted surfaces. Again, I think it worked well due to alchohol in it.
