well there has been lots of product mention and lots of options on car care and details. But can someone put together a list of products, its use and stuff. Trying to figure out whats the best method to keep the car look brand new, but seems like all product listed is the best according to the one that posted it. Zaino and black fire is the most i've seen posted, so are these the best? If so which is the best of the best??
I've also seen post where ppl wash with dawn, and other where they said NEVER wash with dawn. So which is it???

 

Regarding washing with Dawn... it strips the car of wax. Which is why you're getting people saying NEVER use it and the others who are using it to do exactly, that. They want to strip off the old wax.

Personally, I fall in the NEVER use Dawn camp. I'd rather try something else like claybar or something. But that's just my preference.

 

If you check the Guru Report, where they tested 46 polishes and waxes, Zaino came in first overall and in synthetics. The P21S came in first in the wax products and second overall.

 

Your right on the first step, Dawn to strip old wax.

Using a clay bar won't remove wax. It's only used for remove imbedded particles in the existing wax to help smooth out the surface but the old wax will remain.

 

If a clay bar removes embedded brake dust, industrial polution, and overspray, I suspect that it also removes wax.

If the Dawn doesn't get the old wax, the clay bar will.

 

Just to further confuse you, you can use them both at the same time too (Dawn and Claybar). I now use the Zaino carwash (Z-7) as lube for my claybar but when I did my Stealth in the Dr Bonz Zaino Experiment (do a search) I used a very dilute solution of Dawn and water to lube the claybar.
