Detailing wheels/tires between washes
Anyone have some tips on detailing the tires/wheels between washing?
I am looking for a method that does not require me to get out the hose, car wash suds, etc...just some tips to take off the brake dust/road grime that gets on the wheels...
Thanks in advance for any help...

Any method short of a proper wash is a big mess. I tried Windex spray but the results were poor. Wiping dirty wheels with a cloth is out of the question.
A high pressure wand is OK.

I wouldnt really say this method is for between washes but The easiest thing to do is get some Meguiar's hot rims and Spray on all wheels and go through a no touch car wash. Its not really a between washing because the no touch system will wash your car but its about the simpliest way to do it if you dont want to do much work.

I've had very good luck using Eimann Fabrik Hi-Intensity cleaner (diluted 3:1 with distilled water) on my Rays and BBS wheels. I like to wet the wheels first and then spray them down with a couple of squirts. By the time the last ones done, I can usually just start rinsing off the first one. This usually releases most of the brake dust and dirt, although I do have a separate wheel brush if they're really dirty.
It also helps to give them a quick dry with a separate towel to keep the water sports off your prized rims.

I put a nice coat of WheelWax on my 17" OEM wheels, it helped but they would still look like crap after just a few days. So instead of looking like crap after 3 days of driving, the wheelwax probably extended it a day or so. If i had to do it over again, i would have got my Hawk HPS pads (front & rear) from day1 rather than waiting a year.

I just got Hawk street pads and they're great. Until I got those I would often just use Windex with wet paper towels to wipe off the smudge that built up. Not really an issue much now though.

Can you get these Hawk pads locally?

hawk pads, while low dust, suck unless heated. They're not loud but they just dont have the bite that stock has. Im gonna try a few but the project mu pads might be my next choice, or nismo s tune.
Whatever you do make sure you spray any dressing on a rag/towel so that overspray does not hit the cheap Nissan 350z paint. Dealers have been alerted that it causes the paint to stain (and, if you do it, it is not covered under your Nissan warranty--even though this would seem to be a defect as it is reasonable to assume that tire dressing might get onto paint--the paint should hold up--not stain).
I use a damp cloth with a little spray detailer and just wipe before it gets too dirty. Or pour some water on the rims before you wipe. Been doing this for 4yrs and my stock 17s don't have any brakedust, dirt embedded on the rims.
