what do u use to clean ur rims?
i have a 350z with the forged 19inch g35 rims. i really like the rims on my car but they are super hard to clean. i have to srub like hell and go oin the small spaces to clean it. is there a spray or rim cleaner that cleans the brake dust fast and easy?

Meguiar's Hot Rims. Rinse them, spray the cleaner on, let it sit for a few minutes. Wet a soft brush with a handle on it and spray the cleaner on it. Scrub 'em down and rinse it off. Best stuff I've found yet.

Any of the quick spray detailers actually work well as spot free finish and shine on wheels. As for the hard to reach places, a high psi pressure washer always blast away build-up, of course you have to be extra careful though.

I find it interesting that you guys use soap and water, as the soap in it's self can cause a soapy build up even if well diluted. Different strokes I guess.
I use watered down Hot Rims, or if you are very concerned try using some of your good old car wash like you would on your paint. A nice soft sponge or a very soft tooth brush for awkward bits, and lots and lots of water.

Get the gel version.. just spray on, and spread if need be. (It has a good sprayer though)
Leave for however long it says to... agitate if need be, and PW the sucker out!
Safe for all finishes, and works better the longer you can leave it be!

Unfortunately, some owners just don't care enough for their cars. Neglected wheels with months and months of baked on brake dust ain't going to come out with just soap and water.
I've had a few Mercedes and BMW's with baked on brake-dust, and nothing short of acidic cleaners would clean the rims efficiently. (Especially with those stupidly intricate wheel designs)
There is a fine array of non-acidic cleaners that just make the job so much easier.

http://www.wheelwax.com Soap and water wont always get your wheels clean. Use wheel wax and then treat your wheels like you treat your paint. Wash them cold, use a carwash solution, blow them dry with a leaf blower and then blot them dry with a white cotton towel. simple.

It has been well documented to dull metals with repetitive use, and you will definitely run the risk of 'whitening' aluminum parts. Exercise caution when using SG, and don't use it too often. There are many safer alternatives as an all-purpose-cleaner. Just hit up autogeek.net, and check out their APC's.. good suggestions are all there!
Good luck!
