You put on 3-4 coats at once or have done it 3-4 times throughout the week? I would only put on 2-3 coats and always remove the old wax with a clay bar before putting more a new coat.

Check out autopia.org they have great info.

It's not BAD but with tech wax 2 coats is more than enough. You can't really layer tech wax unlike other waxes out there. I used tech wax for a while and usually apply several coats a month. But be sure to clay before adding a new coat. Also with tech wax it does have some longevity. Others have reported (autopia.org) that after 2-3 months the water still beads indicating that the product is still working. I never believe that and I usually re-apply at least once or twice a month.

Don't quote me on this one, but I believe that NXT has mild cleaners in them, and after the second coat; which would be for even coverage, all you're doing is removing the previous layers, and putting on a new one.

There also no need to apply wax that often. NXT can achieve 2 months durability easily, I believe a spray-wax would serve you better, and boost the longevity of your NXT.

Good luck!

Default professional detailer

hi, i am new to the forum, and my 05 yellow touring is 4 days old. i had to offer my opinion on this one. 1st. you can build up layers of wax if it is only a wax and you allow time for the previous coat to cure/ harden. detail shops that claim they apply 3 coats in one day for a high end detail really do not add any shine or protection with the second two coats. you would want to stagger those coats of wax over a week. 2nd. most clay(blue clay magic for instance) do not remove wax. clay glides over the surface catching bonded particles. some aggressive clays are almost like sandpaper and would certainly remove wax. aggressive clay is only used for the worst of vehicle finishes. finally, some waxes are more than waxes. they could have cleaning, leveling and polishing agents in their formula. by nature you could not build up with these types as they tear down a little as they are applied.
the key is do a great job prepping the car for wax, and then apply wax periodically. using a wax in this manner will build protection and shine. i have had my z for four days now and this is the detail work i have done on the finish:wash, solvent for tar, polish by hand(new car glaze by auto magic), clay(clay magic blue), red baron cleaner wax(production), and one last coat of bannana magic(auto magic. i hope this helps. i have owned my own detail business for almost 10 years. feel free to message me if you need help. glad to be here!
