Default Car Cover Question

Hey guys, I don't have a garage where i live and the sprinklers are horrible there is no safe place go avoid them. So i'm going to get a car cover. My question is i was going to get a more generic cover that says its waterproof. Now one of my friends tells me no get a fitted cover. He says the tie at the bottom in the wind can cause damage or something like that. Just wondering what people think on this. I'd rather not spend 200 on a car cover but if a generic cover is not good and will cause problems then the extra money is worth it.

Spend the extra money! Cheapie generics will ultimately trap moisture underneath the cover and on top of the car, and they don't fit well. I could give you 10 reasons not to use a cheapie and ten reasons why you want a quality cover (in this case, you really do get what you pay for).

This is my second Nissan cover. The first lasted 20 months. Very pleased.

And a photo of the Z with 40,000 miles. The car is covered about 16 hours/day. 8 hours at work. 8 hours at night.

Hi jruocco

Don't forget to get the lock kit too. Some rare people may steel your cover OR take off the cover from your car for no reason.

What happened to me 2 days ago is that someone removed my cover & left it on the floor next to my Z. I was like WTF. Car-Cover is not good enough to protect our cars. Thought that Should have had a lock better.

I put cover on my Z all the time in my apt's parking lot with shelter because one time somebody(should the same person) put a codom to my antenna, that was so Fxxking ****...right. That's why i put cover on all the time. But still...couldn't avoid the idiot did second bad thing to me. Is he jeoulous my car is so clean or what.

over time you will get tired of locking it--and IMO not worth the trouble. the lock as you fool with it can certainly damage the car. moreover, car covers are not meant to be put on a car after you have driven it (there will be visible and microscopic dirt and dust on the car--so you don't want to be putting it on and off all the time. Leave on when you know its clean and will be sitting for awhile--then only put back on after you have washed it again. Just my $.02

Dude check out Craigslist or ebay for a used one. I got an OEM one off of Craigslist that was used once for $60. I washed it after I got it and it was like new.
