Default carbon fiber hood.

i bought a used carbon hood and it looks like its faded/dull. what can i do to bring back its shine? i know the bodyshop can do it for about 100 bucks, but its just a hassle to take the hood there and back, and everything. also, i dont have a big enough car thatll fit the hood. i tried polishing? with the nufinish? its the one in the orange tin can. didnt work too well. i tried waxing. that didnt work either. it looks really nice when its wet with anything water/wax etc. but ones the liquid dries out, the hood also looks really faded.

sounds like it needs to be re-cleared. That would have to go through a body shop, or if you know how to do it, you need to wet-sand it down and reclear it.

A simple color sand/buff will bring it back. Just take your car to the bodyshop and schedule an appt. Shouldn't take more than 30mins or so for them to do for you. Nufinish won't do sh*t.

If it takes a day, then you should go somewhere else as they obviously don't know what they're doing.

Not sure about pricing. Just find a place who will do it for you when you get there. Just tell them your situation and that you want to make an appt. to have it done.

Do you have any pics? You may just need a professional detailer to spend a few mins with it.

It will probably cost you more than $100 at any decent place.
