Porter cable bonnet coming off
so what's the deal? how do i keep it from coming off? should i buy the 9" bonnet?
boy..PC work is kinda messy..the wax goes everywhere ..
What kind of bonnet? What backing plate?
The best thing for working with a Porter Cable machine is to get a Velcro backing plate: http://www.topoftheline.com/porcabvelpad.html
Then use velcro 7½" Lake Country VC foam polishing pads: http://www.topoftheline.com/7durvelpad.html
If the product is going everywhere, then you are probably putting too much on or lifting the machine before the product is spread out over a large enough area.

i have this kind of random orbital buffer. it's called Vector Waxx Pro
the backing is different from what u showed me. its like a circle black one. i'll post the picture later. im too lazy to take a pic of it and all. but the bonnet is elastic. one with plastic liner is the one for the wax to put on.

I assume the bonnet is supposed to stay on by virtue of the elastic band around the backing plate, sorta like a shower cap. My guess is that at high speeds, especially if you have a lot of product on the bonnet, the weight makes it sling loose.
ahh...i c. roger that. i think i use a little too much, like this : on the hood, i spread a liquid wax about a size of quarter and spread it all out and the on door same thing. so ya i guess that it was too much on the bonnet?
ur right that the bonnet is like a shower cap. so that is fine right?
so i washed that bonnet in warm water and dry it out until tomorrow. how should i do it now? just use a bit of wax and use that wax on every thing? no reapplying the wax after uses?

Actually, a quarter-sized dollop of wax doesn't sound like too much. Maybe after the bonnet gets soaked the weight becomes a factor.
If the polisher has a speed adjustment, you can try a lower speed.
You might need something to tighten the bonnet but I can't think of a trick off the top of my head. That's why the pros like the velcro plates/pads. They really grip yet are easy to remove - allows for quick change.
