Engine Cleaning
How do I remove all the dust and clean the engine so it looks extremely clean safely? What products do I use? I'm afraid to use water directly on the engine because I don't want it to get into any parts it shouldn't, and I'm afraid to use car cleaning parts since most are flammable, and when the engine turns on and gets hot, it might cause problems (right?).
So anyone here who knows some sure working ways to clean the engine, please help

the engine is 100% water proof, just dont spray the hose into the intake and your golden.
any degreaser will work, I also like simple green, but soapy water will work as well, just wash it down and hose it off.

there really arent any, the fuse and battery are all under the cover. there is common sense that you dont go opening things and spraying electronics. perhaps a better wording would be water resistant. you could open the hood and spray and youd be ok, but dont go blasting the hose at the battery compartment.
not sure what other electronics your referring to. air sensor is sealed into the intake, which I already said not to spray into. the rest is just wires, wires can get wet. they do get wet, when you drive in the rain, your engine ends up getting misted.

I have always gone to a self serve wash, kept the engine running, (didn't once and it took a while to get the car restarted cause water got in the distributor) and hosed away, avoiding the distributor, air intake and any other obviously sensitive areas. Don't have to worry about a distributor with ours.
