With all the vehicles I have owned in my 60 years, I have only been thru a car wash once. After that time, I never had the desire to go to another one. I ALWAYS do it myself and if it isn't done right the first time I have only myself to yell at.

During the winter months in some areas, it's often times not feasible to do a DIY. On days when it's too cold, I'll go to a self-serve bay, and spray the car down with soap and water, and will occasionally bring my own sponge so I don't have to use the brushes that could potentially have sand or other crap in them.

I use the touchless car wash sometimes, but only one certain one that I know gets all the soap off and blows everything dry too.

Some of the touchless ones have wheel guides, which even stock wheels will not fit through. Not good.

Every now and then I will take it to a carwash, however they hand wash it, and I get to sit outside and watch them. There is an older man there who takes his time with her....he always gets a nice tip. I think they charge like 30 bucks for a full vacuum and hand wash, they also use the drying towel I give them...so not so bad I guess?
