Rear bumper scratches. Some help on fixing needed please
Found these scratches on my car:
Discription:
It's on the bumper and slightly on the rear splash guard.
A very thing layer of black paint has been scraped off, and the black rubber underneath has been exposed.
The black rubber has no scratches, it was just a thin plate that was scraped off, almost as if it just flaked off.
Questions: Best way to fix this? Professional or should I do it myself? If professional, about how much would it cost? I have the paint pen if it makes a difference. Thanks everyone.
PS- Sorry the pictures arn't great, the black kept giving me reflections so I did the best I could.

The area in the Red boxes are paint, it is not a scratch. the paint is a silver paint.
Any one out there from experience know how to remove the paint off the car without hurting/removing my black paint? Or is the only solution to paint over the silver paint?

Someone please help
ANY opinions would be welcomed.. I need to get this fixed ASAP because I have to attend a show and car needs to be in top condition, or very close. I cannot have a silver paint streak on my bumper.

I was just told to use Meguires Cleaner Wax, which is a paste in some plastic can.. has anyone tried it to remove paint/scratches?
What about this 3M stuff I heard about, how does that work? I want to remove the silver paint, but want to leave the black paint under it un-touched, is that possible using a chemical, or does the silver have to be scraped off somehow??

paint is paint, there is no silver paint remover. the 3m is a very mild buffing compound that is made to remove swirls, but it removes paint to accomplish this, if done carefully it will remove the silver paint on the surface before the clear coat.
but idealy your finger nail or just a good scrubbing with a wet rag should get it off just fine. thats not to say the paint under neith is untouched. when you remove the silver paint you might find the paint underneith to be damaged.
Im just amazed it didnt crease or dent anything. from what Ive learned the rear bumper material doesnt pop in and pop out, it bends, and it bends permanantly. you cant just pop it back out. lucky lucky lucky.

Judging by the picture, your paint damage is too severe to fix yourself. It looks like quite a bit of clearcoat and even basecoat has been scratched off. A repaint will be the only way to get it back to 100%.
To make it look slightly better until you can get it repainted, start with a paint cleaner, or scratch and swirl remover. If that doesn't work use slightly more aggessive products until the silver paint comes off. Paint transfer (silver) will come off before the factory (black.) You should be fine as long as you don't start off with too aggressive of a product. Although you need a repaint anyway, so don't worry about it too much.
Also, stop using what ever it is you use on the tires. The 'browning' is a sure sign of cheap silicone tire dressings or other products not meant for tires. Use Wesley's BleachWhite to remove all the discoloration and use 303 or something suitable.

Thanks, which swirl remover you recommend? Meguires, Blackfire, Turtlewax, ect. ? I heard good things of Meguires, not sure though. Also, yeah I know I have to repaint for 100%, right now here is what i was thinking...
I have a car show to attend May 10, so for that show I'll just remove silver paint somehow, and touch up with paint pen, then maybe in 1-1.5months get a bodykit. So I don't want to repaint the entire bumper. Maybe it's possible to repaint just that tiny part??
Also, how does those Turtlewax Paint fixer work? The ones with the "ChipStick" which you use to fill in a scratch, then buff with the black wax stuff they provide? Any reviews on that?

I use Meguiars professional products. They have a scale on the front of the bottle that shows how aggressive the product is from yellow (light) to red (way too aggressive to consider.) Start with one that is a 2 or 3 out of 10 like Swirl Free Polish. See here
No experience with Blackfire, and Turtle Wax scratch and swirl remover does NOT work AT ALL - so save your time and $.
As for the chip stick thing, again no experience but my gut instinct says it's a waste of money. However in your situation it might actually be usefull as a temp filler. If you decide to try it, don't use the colored wax that comes with it on anywhere other than your bumper.
If you have a clay bar, try using a small piece of that on the damaged area. It will also help round out the scratch edges and may be all you need to do.

Ricky, A mild polish should remove those marks. My brother-in-law had something similiar paint rub on his bumper (not a Z... i'm in the UK). I lent him my 'One Grand Omega Glaze/polish' and it did the trick. A glaze will also hide any imperfections which may help if you're showing the car. Meguairs hand polish (professional range) is also good.
best of luck
