Default I never believed in gimmicks (blade and absorber)

some of you have already read my glowing post about the Cal blade, NOW I just got the ABSORBER (after reading many reviews).

the drying process has always been my MOST hated process while washing a car, NOW that time has dramatically reduced (maybe even cut in 1/2 or more).

the BLADE works, but I was using a chamoise (real) and a large sythetic chamoise for the rest, NOW the absorber BLOWS these away!! I thought it would just be another waste of $$/gimmick and NOT work any better than teh real thing, SURE enough, it does NOT leave that thin coat of h2o that a real chamoise leaves and you have to keep going over it. I LOVE IT!!!!

i used to use the absorber before also. But i found out about Waffle Weave Microfiber towels... man it works just as well as the absorber but its more safer cuz its really soft and plush. Absobers water like crazy and never had to wring it out during the drying process. Maybe i would for a bigger car.. but microfiber stuff is incredible.

I see the guy at the auto show selling some sort of absorbtion thing, thats sposed to absorb tons of water effortlessly, I was impressed, went to go find my dad to see what he thought, but when we came back for his next demonstation I was at the side of the table....

he pours a bunch of water on the counter, and proceeds to drape the pad over it, and drag it back in crisscrossing motion, appearing to absorb all the water, but from the side you can see 90% of the water was dragged off the back of the counter, not absorbed.

from that I discounted the idea that a working version could ever exist.

but I am tempted to try the cali blade, I just dont want to pay 5$ shipping on a 15$ thing. I hate doing that.

So, where do I get one of these Absorbers or Waffle Weave Microfiber towels?

I've had the same Absorber for about 8 years now, and it is starting to develop a small hole finally. The tube that you store it in is wearing out before this thing. I bought a replacement a couple of years or so ago, but still haven't switched to it because the original just still keeps working.

These things are great. I still can't talk myself into a blade yets, as I fear dragging stuff on the paint, but I might just get one at some point. I've seen them work, and they do work nice, but I am now leaf blowing off that initial water anyway, so am not sure how much time it would save me. The leaf blower gets the water out of the lugs, mirrors, and other cracks.

BTW, Wal-Mart carries all this stuff, too. I highly recommend the Absorber.

I have both the blade and absorber. I love them both, but word of caution: Make sure vehicle is 100% clean before using them. Neither picks up dirt, they will drag it around and put swirls the car.

If the blade scares you just use an absorber, they are the bomb!

I used to use terrycloth towels, but after getting annoyed at having to use 2 towels to dry a car, and one to get rid of the other towels' fuzz, I :ahem: borrowed my roommates absorber and water blade. After using it, I went out to Walmart later that night and bought myself a set for maybe 20 bucks for both.

Now I use the waterblade to get off about 90% of the water, and the absorber to get the rest. Drying my car takes literally like 2 minutes now. A word of warning though, you have to make sure your car is absoutely clean so youre not dragging dirt across it, and wipe off the blade fairly often just to make sure (dont be afraid to wash the absorber either).
