So, it was off to the drawing board once again. I first washed with Z-7 wash as always and then rinsed dry. Using a brand new clay bar (Zaino # Z-18) and a dilute solution of Z-7 as a lube, I lightly clayed the entire car.
I did the old hand in the plastic bag test again and believe it or not, it was actually appreciably smoother after the claying. BUT what I did not see was loss of beading property or any sign that I had taken any Zaino off of the car! (See my editorial for Sal's explanation of this).
After the claying, I dried as I always do and did a full Z-6 misting. I then applied a layer of the NEW FORMULA Z-5. It is MUCH thinner than the old Z-5 and goes on much easier and smoother. It seems to cover the paint a lot more thoroughly as well. I used the Z-5 mixed with ZFX so I could do it all in one day.
Upon taking off the Z-5, I noted that it was also a bit easier to remove than before. I did another Z-6 misting and then applied a layer of the NEW FORMULA Z-2. It too is thinner than it's old version and again, it went on smoother and came off just as easy.
The pics and the final result are below. I think Sal has once again, outdone himself! It may have a lot to do with the fact that I clayed the car, but it looks and feels GREAT! I got that same old EYE-POPPING look I got the very first time I Zaino-ed the Z.

2.Do you clay your car everytime you wax your car?
3.Do you wipe the clear residue off and then apply Z-6 or do you apply z-6 while the clay residue is still on?
4. When you apply the z-6 does that need to be wiped off as well before you apply z-5?
5. Do you apply the clay, z-5, z-6, z-2 in sections or the entire car at once?
6. What's the difference in z-2 and z-5? They are both polishes. Will I get the same results if I just use one or the other?
7. How much of a difference does ZFX make?

I might suggest that you go to www.zaino.com and look at each of the products you have questions on. There is also a very good "Tips & Tricks" section. I will say this, it is by far the "finest" product I have ever used! Not only the finest, but the "easiest". Would not have applied 29 coat since mid August if difficult. That is 29 of Z5 and Z2. How many Z6 ?????. It goes on after you wash. Goes on after Z5 and before Z2. Goes on as last process. Goes on if you just want a clean "wet" look before going out. That assuming your car has been dusted with "California Duster".

4. When you apply the z-6 does that need to be wiped off as well before you apply z-5? YES, Z-6 IS MIST ON, BUFF OFF IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT LETTING IT DRY.
5. Do you apply the clay, z-5, z-6, z-2 in sections or the entire car at once? ENTIRE CAR AT ONCE
6. What's the difference in z-2 and z-5? They are both polishes. Will I get the same results if I just use one or the other? Z-5 IS BETTER FOR FILLING IN SWIRLMARKS BUT STILL SHINES VERY WELL. Z-2 IS MORE "OPTICALLY PERFECT" AND I ALWAYS USE THAT LAST.
7. How much of a difference does ZFX make? IT MAKES IT A MUCH FASTER PROCESS. YOU CAN DO A LAYER AND REMOVE IT IN UNDER AN HOUR. WITHOUT ZFX, IT NEEDS TO SIT AND CURE FOR AT LEAST 10-12 HOURS.

It depend! Did you use "ZFX"? Look at the previous post by Dr Bonz. With "ZFX" could be buffing in a hour or less depending on temp and humidity. Without, 10 - 12 hours. I do both. Lately been washing with Z7, follow-up with Z6, apply Z2 without "ZFX" and let it sit in the garage overnight to dry.

Wow, 60+ layers Bonz?!?! Impressive! I have failed the Zaino gods. I have not Zainoed in about 4 months 
But the 15 layers I had on are still going strong. Now with the pollen gone, I'm going to clay bar and Zaino my baby again. What can I say? After a year, the new car feeling as dissipated a bit. I've been lazy.

Doc, just wondering how many bottles of zaino you bought? I am just wondering hom many bottles of zaino it takes to put on 60 coats. I know that you probably bought way more z-6, but im just talking about z2 and z5.

I went through one bottle of Z-2 original formula and am half way through my bottle of new formula Z-2. I have been through two bottles of original Z-5 and just started on my second bottle of new formula Z-5.......so to answer your question I have used approximately 4.5 bottles so far (in two years and 63 total layers on my Z, three layers on my sister's SLK, 6 layers on my wife's Jeep, three layers on my dad's Jag, one layer each on Andy's and Morris' cars at Z Dayz).
As for the Z-6, I've lost count. Probably around 6-8 bottles total.
