1) Wash car down with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water.

2) Clay bar

3) Polish.

Increasing order of severity of spots requires increasing severity of cure. If they're new and light, #1 works fine. If they're old and etched into the clearcoat/paint, then #3 is called for.

Pics? You're kidding right?

Dave hit the nail on the head with his suggestions, but I'll also add one other option. Wash the surface and you can try a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar. Next try using a clay bar to remove some other really light etchings. Both of these options can help but unfortunately most water marks I've treated required more serious work. I have used the Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover with good success on etchings. Most commonly I wind up polishing the surface to totally restore the finish, but both options work quite well. Let me know if you would like more information about polishing or any of the other options.
