Default Gilmour Foam Gun/Chemical Guys Citrus Wash

Received another order from Detailed Image (Porter Cable, pads, foam gun, etc). As always, outstanding service. Thanks again Greg.

The instructions that came with the foam gun are rather vague. Can anyone tell me how much Citrus Wash to put in the foam gun and what setting it should be on?

Citrus Wash is such a great car soap. I wish I stepped out earlier and combined it with the foam gun, but I have been busy with house stuff. I am sure Greg will respond sooner than later, using it to concentrated will strip off your wax. I double wash my car with the first time really gentle to get most of the grime off and then a second time with more scrubbing action to get it perfect. The foam gun would elimante that.

Have you tried the Optimum No Rinse? I have heard a lot of detailers who fell in love with the product line, but haven't seen too many people using it on this forum. Maybe I gotta start my detailing addiction up again. lol

Glad to hear you are happy as usual with you purchase thus far. The ratios are a bit confusing, but we have some info that will help you. I've figured out the appropriate ratios for using both .5 ounces/per gallon to not strip off protection and the 2 ounces per gallon to strip off protection. The amount of CW&G needed is based off using the 64 ounce reservoir tank and the rest of the container would be filled with water. If you are using the 32oz bottle or only half filling the 64 ounce container you will need to divide the amount of CW&G by 2. Let me know if this makes sense or if anyone comes up with different numbers.

Thanks for the reply Greg, pardon my slowness. Based on your chart, and since I bought the foam master with the half gallon tank and do not want to strip the protection, I should use 0.25oz. of the CW&G and fill the rest of the tank with water.

Bear with me, could you explain the other numbers in your chart?

1 - 128
1 oz. / gallon
32 oz.
N/A

1 -64
2 oz. / gallon
16 oz.
64 oz.

etc.

Sorry for any confusion, believe me you are not alone. The easiest answer would be to just use an automotive shampoo that does not strip (i.e. Chemical Guys Maxi Suds, Poorboy's World Super Slick and Suds, etc.) if that is easier. You can use as much shampoo as you would like in this case.

If you don't want to strip the protection you'll want to use roughly .5 ounces of CW&G per gallon of water. The first thing you want to do is pick a setting (A through E). I commonly use setting E so we'll use that as an example. I would pour in roughly 2.6 ounces of the CW&G and fill the rest with water. Additionally you could also use just 1.3 ounces and only half fill the reservoir with water. You can use almost any combination that uses the same ratio.

Using this mix is going to be fairly watery, so I wouldn't expect a ton of suds. If you want a lot of suds and not strip the protection then I would again use a different shampoo. Let me know if you have any other questions.

i have a question for you. i plan on ordering some "Poorboy's World Super Slick and Suds" but for now, is it ok to use "Meguiars NXT Generation Car Wash"? i have a big jug of this stuff and would like to finish it off before ordering some Poorboy's. It says on the descrption "This pH balanced, non-detergent formula won’t strip off wax protection", so i was wondering if its fine to use in the meantime? And if useable, could you give me rough amount of how much i should put? Thanks

Yes you can definitely use that shampoo on your vehicle with the Gilmour Foamaster II. The Poorboy's World Super Slick and Suds and just about every shampoo I can think of would work just fine. You can mix in as much shampoo as you would like really. The more shampoo you put in the more sudsy it will be. If you mix in a lot of water with the shampoo the formula will be a little more "runny". With either method you should have plenty of shampoo to cover a large section of the vehicle and rinse that area. I personally like to pour in a couple ounces of shampoo 2 - 6 ounces with just a little bit of water. Let me know if you have any other questions.

No problem at all, I'm here to help. There is no "right" answer really, it's more personal preference of how "sudsy" you like the foam. I would probably add in about 5oz - 10oz of water in there as well and put it on setting E for more suds. I generally then spray it over about 1/4th of the vehicle and wash that area and rinse it before doing the next section. Let me know if you have any other questions.
