Default Dirty Engine Bay. Is this method allowed?

I'm just looking for reassurance, i've never detailed an engine bay before in fear of damaging something. I watched this video and it appears all he basically does is spray down everything with the mentioned degreaser and then pressure wash it.

Is there anything I should look out for?

I guess since i'm here I might as well ask. Can anyone argue that, for the money, there is something else better than Meguire's Gold Wash? I've been using it for the past 2 years and haven't gone to anything else. Recommendations are welcome if speaking from experience with gold wash and x product.

I love Turtle Wax Ice Wash.

It could just be a mental thing, but the soap feels more dense than a lot of the other liquid car soaps I have tried.

Poorboys Super Slick & Suds is a great bang for buck or chemical guys Maxi Suds is another great option that comes in a much larger 128 oz. Another good option to maintain your engine bay is keeping a California duster around and wiping it down on a weekly basis to keep the dirt buildup to a minimium. The degreaser will still be required on a periodic basis. Just make sure you cover your fuse box, intake (JWT), and battery area. Poorboys APC is a great option too, you can use it to help break up the grime and remove bugs prior to washing.

I usually take a degreaser and mix it with some water in a spray bottle and hit all the dirty areas, then I take brush and scrub it down. Then follow up with another spray down with a bottle of water then 303 aerospace on all the plastics. I would never take a pressure washer to my engine unless I covered every electrical connection first.

I use Simple Green with a soft bristled brush, rinse off with a hose, and used compressed air or a gas powered blower to dry everything off.
