Default Very Small rust dots on deck lid...

As the title indicates, I noticed two very small rust spots the size of a pencil point on the deck lid when I was washing the car today. I'm forced to park outside so the car is exposed to the elements, but I do take very good care of the car, washing weekly, and multiple waxes during the year. Is there anything better I can do to prevent this, and what can I do to treat this? Touch up paint? Thoughts, comments welcome ...

Use clay bar over the whole car once a year. It will get out those small rust dots.

what do u mean by rust spots? do you mean there is exposed metal on your car that has rusted? or do you mean rust landed on ur paint and and just stuck on there?

I think you mean the first one. and I would try to sand or file out the rust without causing anymore damage then use touch up to cover it

Thanks for the replies. I think its actually rusted through the clear coat. You have to get up pretty close to see it, but i want to nip this before it gets any worse. I don't know how comfortable I would feel personally sanding it since I have zero experience doing this. Clay bar is something I do need to do. That would be great if it would take this out, but like I said, I think* its through the clear coat but I may be wrong.

No, I'm the 2nd owner. Its a 2006 I bought in late 2008 and I've put about 15,000 miles on it. The paint, exterior are in great shape, with the exception of these recent spots.

Agree. Rust (corrosion) means that you must expose bare metal. Clear coat is gone. Paint is gone. Primer is gone. How do you get this damage on the rear hatch?

If you are not certain take it to a pro. Touch-up paint, if used improperly, will not adhere to the surface.

Alright, thanks for the responses. Very helpful. I'll try out the clay bar and see if that does the trick. It's something I've been meaning to do, but this will give me a good reason to go ahead and give it a try.

Thanks

It can be taken care of by a clay bar. The mothers clay bar kit from any auto parts store will work wonders. It will help to brighten your paint up also. This is very common on white and generally only happens on the rear of the car.
