Question Abosrber Opinions?

Hi Everyone,

I just did the whole Zaino treatment for the first time this past weekend in upper 40-50 degree weather. I picked up an absorber at Walmart for drying duties. What does everyone think of this product? I found that it left water streaks on the car and did not get it completely dry. This occured even after wringing. Was this because it was too cold out maybe? Do other people notice similar? Thanks for the input.

I used to get the same result. I now use a California Water Blade and a 100% Cotton Towel.

I use the Absorber and love it, however I have noticed that when the temps are on the colder side the Absorber does not soak up the water nearly as well when it is warm out. I alsays Z-6 my cars after each wash so if the Absorber does leave a little trail of water residue, its not biggie at all as the Z-6 and the www.dftowel.com takes care of that.....

I did the exact same thing that fanatic6711
did. I was not impressed with the Absorber so I got the water blade and I have never looked back.

Last weekend I used a leaf blower for the first time. I felt a little odd as my neigbors tried to figure out what the heck I was doing, but it worked great. The water just rolled off. I only had to towel dry the door, trunk and hood areas after opening them up. The best part about the blower is it forces out all the water from those tight spots so you don't have to worry about going back to hit those spots near the mirrors etc.

It was a warm Southern Cal day and that probably helped. One note is that if you use the blower have it handy to start right away after rinsing.....and wear some ear protection. I also took someones advice and wetted down the area around the car so no dust got blown up.

Keep the "absorber" for emergencies. Forget the "blade"! Order two (2) each "25 X 36" waffle/"BigBlue" towel from:
www.pakshak.com One for the left side and the other for the right side. NO streaks! You can do the entire care without wringing out! Go to "detailing" and do a search. Someone did a absorption comparison of "absorber" vs "BigBlue".

Thanks for the replies guys. This being my first time doing the whole zaino process I actually did use Z6 after the dry as well so I guess I took care of the streaks. So the Bigblue that much better then the absorber. I mainly got the absorber because it was like $8 at Walmart

I would hope once its nice weather here in Boston (seems like sooooo long from now) that the absorber will work a little better. I wasted money on a top of the line fieldcrest huge bath towel so I might as well use it to clean up after the absorber!!!

I used to use the Absorber, but I think the Big Blue does a much better job. I can do my whole roadster without wringing the towel at all.

SportsCarCare.com and PakShak are the same towel - if you're on the east coast, try SCC, I'm in CT.

Forget those 100% Cotton towels. Go to dftowel.com. They are so good, Zaino and Dr. Bonz are recommending.

Another absorber question. After you wash it in the washing machine do you store it damp or let it dry first? One time I let it dry and it got hard. Thanks.

It is meant to be stored slightly damp. Pretty convenient, eh?

Make sure you KEEP the tube it comes in (one of my friends immediately chucked his Absorber Tube right of the bat) to store the Absorber lightly damp. Its not meant to dry out.

I am sure our DF towels in the large size would be awesome to dry with also, but to tell the truth, since I started using and selling DF towels I have not washed either my black car or black truck, I drive the beater on wet and nasty days.....

I ordered the "big Blue" from Pakshak and actually prefer the Absorber. I did buy some other towels from them for waxing (removal) and they wrok great.

Tried the Absorber and completely hated it. Could not stand the screeching noise and feel while drying. And hated the streaks it left behind. BTW, this was in 90 degree weather.

Bought a big blue towel from PAKSHAK and could not be happier with the product, service, and delivery. I still use the big blue to pick up most of the water, and then follow through with a terry cloth towel to detail.

Pakshak towels are the best value in microfiber - that's why they're my supplier! Ranney is the man!

Big Blue towel really soaks up more water and leaves less water trails.

The absorber is meant to absorb most of the water...and then I would go over with a towel to clean up and do final detail work.

I use a leaf blower now and then use my 50/50 Z6 mixture with a DF microfiber towel.
