FYI: I was at Costco tonight, saw a package of microfiber towels (12) for $9. these towels doesn't feel as "dense" as my microfiber towels from properautocare.com, but the costco towels are soft none the less.

 

cool... thanks for the heads up... probably pick some up and put one in my car with a QD spray for bird bombs and on the spot cleaning.. BTW, what size are the towels??

 

They are 12 x 12. I've used them since June '03, when I got my Z, and they work great.

 

Are they made in Bangledesh or something? Beware.

 

I bought 2 packages. I had to drive down to San Diego to find them. Unfortunately not all Costcos have them.

 

Just picked up a package myself. They're made in China and distributed by Eurow Corp. They list their website as www.eurowcorp.com but all that comes up is a search engine.

I picked up a package, got myself a cali water blade and duster there to0 but somehow i lost the blade =/ and i won the same duster a couple weeks later at the paramus NJ meet.

 

Be careful with these. Wipe one of them on a CD and see if they leave any fine scratches behind. I bought out of curiousity and relegated them to in car rags if I need to clean my hands or the occasional interior cleaning of the windshield.
MF towels of this "quality" and I use that term loosely with these, will vary greatly from one run to the next.
Make sure the one you pick up to use is not causing swirls.

 

I tend to use these yellow MF towels for cleaning wheels and interior. For buffing and polishing my paint, i use Viper MF "green" towels that i got from Properautocare.com

 

Finally got around to doing the CD scratch test that Grzldvt recommended. The one towel I tested passed with flying colors. With the inexpensive price, I would worry about quality control though. I'm sure that there may be a few in that pack that won't pass. I'll probably relegate these to interior and window work. I would hate to hear "We warned you about those damn towels!" after I post that I have fine little scratches in paint.

 

I bought a pack of 12 from Costco a few months ago. Those came with variety of colors. I've been using them on my Z (use and re-use) for buffing and wiping off Z-6. I find no swirls...I have a Silverstone though.

 

I have about three packs of these and have been using them for QD and polishing. They work just as well as the viper towels from porperautocare, of which I have several. I did the CD test initially and really had to press hard to make a mark. The great thing is that when you take them out of the dryer, turn off the lights and watch the lightning storm when you pull them apart. The staic charge goes away after they have sat out for a while.

I usually air-dry my towels.

 

It's a bit late for this post, but you should never let your towels get so dry you have static in them. That static electricity will transfer to the car and attract dust. It will dissipate, but not completely.
If you don't air dry them, then get them to the point where they are still a bit moist, and let them air dry.
It is the first thing I check when customers complain about dust collecting on their car is to run the back of arm close the car and see if the hair stand up. That means the static has transfered to the paint, and dust is next.
Using a non-static detail spray helps, but if it so bad you seeing electricity discharge on the towel, not even that is going to help.
