I wax cars all the time, i've tried all different types of products, while zaino is one of the best i've used, it's not in my regular arsenol and has sat for the last year. It's a great product, but the steps are to tedious for my liking and I feel the key is to remove imperfections instead of hide them.
Currently NXT is what i'm using, however I change what I like every few months.

there will always be someone that's loyal to a specific brand.
A quote I like to use
"Find something you like, and use it often"
I'd be interested to see how many of the zaino purists have branched out and tried other things. But if you like what you got and it ain't broke, why fix it

Zaino will be back in my arsenal this weekend for a black land cruiser i'm doing. I'm gonna do a side by side. Half the car zaino, half NXT. I'll post results

I may have stated in the past...that I'm sure Zaino is a great product...but too time & step intensive...and I maybe wrong (I know you will correct me!) but does Zaino with all its steps only mask/fill swirls..not polish out swirls as you could with a simple polish before your NXT
Sorry but NXT doesn't do anything that Z-5 doesn't do. It doesn't "polish out" anything. You are just filling them in, just like with Z-5.
To get them "out" you'd need to wet sand the car I would assume.

what I was saying Bonz..is that with instead of all the multiple steps of zaino...is that you could add one more step to your NXT routine BEFORE you apply NXT...megs #9 for example...and have your swirls REMOVED..then apply NXT to seal and protect...but as I said with all the steps involved for zaino...you are just protecting your paint not removing swirls from your paint...I don't think wetsanding is required unless you have some MAJOR swirls!

I was going to let this go, but this has really gone too far. What steps??????
Look, it is recommended that you remove all the old wax and claybar before you start with Zaino. That is no different from any other sealant/polish, is it? Some polish/sealants have formal products and "3-step" processes for cleaning the paint to prep for the polish. Zaino recommends Dawn. Claybar is certainly not specific to Zaino, it's just that Zaino people have made such a big deal of "if you want the best results, do this".
You could also choose to apply a little abrasive to your paint like megs #9 first, to get a smoother base paint and remove swirls. But that goes for any polish/sealant product.
What other steps are there to Zaino? Drip a couple drops of ZFX into the polish and shake it up first? No, wait, all the others say to shake before using, so it's just the dripping that's the step. [sarcasm] ooooh, now that sounds real difficult [/sarcasm]
Oh yeah, it must be those steps where you have to apply the polish, then wipe it off. No, no, all the others have that, too!
Then maybe it's the detailing spray afterwards. No, a lot of products also offer detailing sprays, for that quick touch-up. Washing maybe? No, couldn't be that.
So tell me, Mr. Zeeee, where are all those "Zaino steps" you're complaining about????

Z1, Z2, Z5 are the steps if I'm not mistaken (replace Z1 now if you are now using ZFX, which wasn't around when I started using this product). And most people are putting on multiple coats of 2 and 5.
W/ those same steps it'd be much easier for most to do a polish like DACP or Speed Glaze and follow it up a sealant and you are set and you are removing the imperfections
NO one is saying that Zaino is not a good product, you are getting to defensive. It's a great product, just some of us feel that w/ the amount of effort you put into doing it properly according to Sal, you can actually REMOVE those imperfections instead of hiding them. I'll let you know how Z2 handles being on top of a good polish like #83 or # 80 soon
