Just applied layer number 19 today. Put some Z-5 on yesterday and a coat of Z-2 today. Gotta love these long holiday weekends!

You got to love that garage.

I picked up my Brilliant Silver G35Coupe 3 weeks ago and have been fighting the weather just to get 2 coats of Zaino on.

19 layers as of yesterday. This is just the Z-5 and Z-2. I don't count the Z-6 between every other layer. The first 3-4 I used the ZFX mixed in and the middle bunch I didn't use ZFX. I just let it sit on the car a little longer. Now that the weather is colder, I did the last four layers with the ZFX added so I don't have to wait as long for it to cure on the car. I also do it all inside my garage (temp around 60 degrees).

We did not get any rain or snow, but the temps were in the 50’s yesterday and in the 40’s today. Too cold to Zaino.

Man I need a garage.

CAUTION....after 10 coats it took me 15 minutes to put my car cover on

Every time I rolled it out over the car it would slip off the other side

You never warned me about this Doc

Dr. Bonz!!!

I need a quick consultation... I've got swirls! Not really panicking... just wondering if this is normal with Zaino?

I suspect it is from occasional "dusting" between washes and assume the swirls are only in the Zaino coat, not the paint.

Is this normal? Does the Z5 fill them pretty well? I've used the Z5 twice already, but did not have any swirl marks at the time so I have not frame of reference.

Let me know so I can put my mind at ease...

Default Swirls?

I'd like to see a picture of that! What are you dusting with, one of those mop-like things? You're not washing with a brush or using a carwash, are you?

I have had good results with Z5 fixing scratches & swirls in clearcoat, but I think you ought to try to fix it with a coat of Z2 before you buy Z5.

The Z-5 is for swirls though. I'd give it a couple layers to see if it'll fill them in. When I did my Stealth (10 years worth of swirls) it got rid of about %80 of them I'd say. I never had any on the Z so I wouldn't know about that but the Z-5 is your answer for the swirls.

Now in the DDZC. Layer 10 and 11 X-Mas eve. Just had to give the Z something for X-Mas. Looks like a couple more layers this week since we now have 6 inches of snow and it's coming down hard. Opened the garage door so the Z could at least see what it looks like. I assured her she will never have to go out in it.

Question

It seems the Zaino and Meguiar's clay bar systems are similar.

I currently use most of the Meguiar's products including the clay bar and spray (not the Quick Detailer, but the other one).

Would it be OK to continue using the Meguiar's clay bar system
and follow that with the Zaino "wax" system?

My Redline is due in within the next couple weeks and I want to "Zaino" it.

thanx!

There is no problem using any clay before Zaino. Clay is just a cleaner and the differences are small. Commonly the Zaino clay is a better deal as you get 2 bars instead of 1. Zaino recommends car wash and water as a lubricant which works as well as the fancy sprays and is essentially free.

Is this procedure on the first page still the most up-to-date, correct procedure? I just picked up my black G35 coupe on Saturday morning and waxing it within the next 2 weeks.
