Default Dawn brand new car? also cali duster/waterblade

My Z is fresh off the boat. Do i need to Dawn wash it before Zaino?
I will use the Zaino claybar...rail dust, brake dust ETC...but do i really need to take a chance in harming the paint with Dawn, if i don't really need it?

Also on a side note...bought a Cali duster and a waterblade off ebay...wow, i can't believe i've been living without them.

If you're sure your car has never been waxed before then you don't need to use dawn.

Life without a Cali duster would be hell..

I have the water blade too, don't use it anymore though. I use the "Big Blue" waffle weave towel, works great.

You need to be careful as to not accidently catch a piece of dirst or something bewteen the waterblade and the paint, or your gonna have one nasty scratch.

The waterblade is great. Just rinse it off once in a while and especially if you put it down or drop it. I carry a clean towel and wipe the blade each time I swipe.

Clay should take off any wax that is on the car anyway...so i don't think dawn is really necessary...you'll be fine without it. although I must say that I used dawn on my Z with no problems so far...either way is ok

Default Dawn is only soap with Degreaser

Just gets any extra greasy stuff off. But, I wouldn't make a habit out of Dawn.

Water blade and duster are essential, love them both. But, I've found my new best friend when it comes to Zainoing Zeta, a seat creeper, best $29 investment ever. Now applic & buffing doesn't kill my back. I bought a $149 Porter 7424, used it once and went back to hand buffing. It took all the personal touch out of it, plus I had to finish it off by hand any way. Anybody wanta buy a once used Orbital buffer?

Just finished layer 10 & 11 of Zaino, really love that stuff. Wife's getting a little jealous of all the attention Zeta gets. Can you guess what brand of golf spike I use?……lol

I say use the Dawn. It gets the paint very clean, removes all greases and other residues, and there's a reasonable possibility that a wax-containing wash has been used at some point, maybe even the factory.

It's not going to harm your paint with one use. I did it the day I brought my car home (the day it came off the truck) and my paint is beautiful 18 months and 12 coats of Zaino later.
