Wink Finally!! A solution for the brake dust!!

Its no secret, its Hawk HPS brake pads that Im sure many of you are already using. It feels great slamming on my brakes knowing my wheels arent going to be covered in dust when I get home now! After spending countless hours cleaning my wheels over the last few months, these pads are like a miracle!

If you arent running Hawk HPS pads on your Z, do yourself a favor and pick some up!

Sorry for the useless thread, just wanted to share my experience

Pads are about the same performance wise, and run around 130 for a set of front and rear--and DJK's right about the brake dust

It could be that he did not bed them correctly.

I also have replaced my front pads with the Hawk HPS and think they are great. The stopping power is about the same, maybe a little better. The BIGGEST advantage is keeping the rims relatively clean.

If they are squealing he didn't put the shims back in right, or he needed some grease on them.

There are other compounds besides the HPS+ that may squeal more tho.

Hawk HPS+ Pads can be had for less then $110 for a full set from raceshopper.com

I got mine from raceshopper. On the advice of another member, I bought an anti squeal brake spray from autozone. Spray it on the back of the pads before putting the shim back on. I don't have any squeal.

I'm about to order these pads as well. Brake dust is driving me insane. After a nice carwash I was finding myself trying to avoid using brakes (downshifting or braking very softly) just to keep the wheels clean longer. Hopefully these pads will reinstate my sanity.

Just wondering how would it help to spray anti-squeal on the back of the pad and not the composite side?

I have Hawks on the fronts. Much less dust! But it squeals when coming to a stop. Much better then excessive dust! Overall excellent pads.

Mine squeal a little bit every now and then, definitely not on a consistent basis. Im hoping it will go away in time. I can definitely live with a small squeal for the amount of time I save in cleaning.

put on my hawks in front and rear about a month ago. they don't screech and i think it might be cause i had the tire shop sand or cut the rotors before putting em on.
i still get some (much less than stock) dust though, but it could be cause im really hard on the brakes

Default Try a Set of Satisfied Pads

Bought a set of Satisfied Ceramic pads from tirerack. Have not had to clean the wheels for 3 weeks and not a hint of dust at all. No squeaking, maybe a touch better than stock. $50.00 a set for the front. I'm putting them on ALL my cars.

I've had mine on for 3 months without any problems.

Turning the rotors would not do anything.

Did they put any brake grease between the shims?

Did you bed the pads as per the directions that came with the pads?

i did the bedding process as described.
i dont know if they put break grease on. what are the shims?
i also called raceshopper (where i ordered my pads) and the guy said with hawk pads you need to hose em down every week or so to get rid of any break dust that could be causing squeeking. well im going to try hosing em when i wash my car this afternoon, but im skeptical
