Default Keeping Super Black Shining...

A friend of mine got a black Solara and he says that it gets dirty 5 minutes after leaving the car wash. Not that other cars don't get dirty, it's just black shows it a lot more than other colors. Anyone has any advice on how to keep it clean (except for washing it every day)? SB is my favorite color but around Pacific Northwest it's raining a lot and I don't want to make a mistake choosing the color for the car that I will have to spend all my free time cleaning.

Sorry to say, but, that's the curse of a black car. The only thing I can tell ya is to keep a Cali. Duster, Meguiar's Quick Detailer, and some microfiber towels in the trunk.

PS: I clean my car at LEAST once a week.

Get Silverstone instead. It's a very classy, timeless color, and even when it's dirty it looks great! With SB you will either spend all your time washing it or drive around in a dirty-looking car.

agree with erock over there... cali duster it, then quick detail spray it with a microfiber towel (not if the paint is heavily soiled, only then i wash it). I do mines twice a week and i drive my car practically every day. Looks clean most of the time and ppl give me comments on how clean it is. i wash every other week. it gets foggy/misty around my area all the time and my Z is doing alrite. i too was contemplating about SB, but when its clean, i don't regret my choice at all. looks freagin sexy!! BLACK BEAST!!

I've gotta agree with everyone else here...cali dusters and detailing spray are the way to go. I wash mine and spray it down with Griot's speed shine once a week. The cali duster is standard equipment in my trunk, especially during pollen season.

"When he leaves the car wash"

I sure hope you don't plan on bringing ablack Z, or any Z for that matter threw a car wash.

I also agree, cali duster, quick mist, and a few micro fiber towels.

NEVER dust off heavy dust/dirt, this could cause scratches/swirls, never quick mist a car that you can't get almost all of the dust off.

I myself detailed my car EVERY single week, with a buffer, and aI used a product that fills swirls very well each time with a buffer.

Sure I'd spend 2-4 hours on it at least once a week, sure it's a b*tch, but NOTHING beats a clean, black car. They shine like no other.

But yeah, I used the duster at least a few times daily so that the dust just could not build up and get to thick. I also used quick mist on most mornings and at night when it is cool out, always out of driect sun light.

I must say that my Black Z was one of the most swirl free cars I have ever seen. Nor-Cal people can comment for me on this one

I unfortunatly had to sell my car Many reasons.

However, I think I might have one of the fastest selling experiances EVER. Took only 2 days from when I listed it up. Everyone was saying, and still do say that it was one of the cleanest Z's they had ever layed eyes on.
