Best Porter Cable buffer for newbies?

Question Best Porter Cable buffer for newbies?

Since I have no experience with buffers, which Porter Cable would be the best? I was searching for a nice random type (I think that's what they're called). Also, do you all think that a buffer would allow Zaino Z5 hide swirl marks better than applying by hand? I'm new at these things, thanks in advance.

PC 7424(random type).If you want to remove swirls permanently use a cutting polish like Meguiars DACP or 3M fine cut compound(not aggresive at all)Zaino Z5 will only hide swirls,the swirls will be backed after couple of washes.

I haven't heard of too many pepole applying zaino with PC...
also as Kev noted get one from coastal tool - basically turns your PC 7424 to 7336 with a swap of the bonus counter weight...which with both counter weights give you a multitude of buffing pad options...couldn't be happier with mine!

Zaino doesn't really hide swirls all too well unless you're prepared to layer it on.

mrZeee, you say you havn't heard of many people applying Zaino with the PC? Would it be possible/safe? Would there be any benefits applying Zaino with PC as opposed to just applying it by hand? Thanks in advance...

I also plan to try using the 3M fine cut compound to see how well it works. Thanks guys.

The only benefit applying zaino on PC is you can apply then thin and even.

I have applied Zaino many times using the black finishing pad and the PC, it works it into the paint really good, applies it thin, and makes it dry twice as fast, I always show my customers how to use the black pad and Zaino polish when I do seminars....

Is the black pad the same as the grey pad?

I use a porter cable 7415 and I'm very happy with it.

Yes black pad(lake country)=grey pad.

350zDan - PC 7415 isn't that a grinder??? I take it that it isn't random- orbital...so I imagine you must be pretty careful with something like that...definately not for the rookie!

whew, someone finally got the joke =) That's PC's most powerful angle grinder. Wonderful for removing deep casting marks from aluminum.

I use a modified 7424 just like everyone else. I had a Makita rotary before that but I'm afraid of it.
