Default Porter cable buffing pad? Which one?

I just got my Porter Cable 7336 and I am not sure if I am using the correct buffing pad. I bought the microfinger pad with the velcro pad back. It did a decent job but not what I was expecting. I am using NXT wax and when I buffed it off a lot of white powder and stuff was everywhere. All the wax did not come off either. Could you guys give me some examples of good buffing pads.

where did you get the pad.

I use lake country 6.5" pads from www.properautocare.com

I apply my polishes w/ their white polishing pad and then apply my wax's/synthetics w/ their finishing pad. I then wipe off either by hand w/ MF or w/ a MF bonnet on top of a clean pad.

I got the pads at www.topoftheline.com SO the porter doesn't get all the wax off by itself you are supposed to finish the job off by hand?

One more question when applying the nxt is it better to apply with the porter. If so why?

BTW thanks for the help with these questions

http://www.topoftheline.com/lake-cou...sher-pads.html

are those your pads?

The pads aren't made to remove product. They are for putting product on. If you have an MF bonnet you can put it on top of a clean pad and remove it that way but most it easy to remove w/ an MF towel by hand.

here is a great article you should really read.

as for NXT, I like applying it w/ the PC w/ a finishing pad if I already have the PC out, it helps you get full coverage IMO. But if I don't have the PC out I apply it by hand.

If you want to remove any kind of wax or polish with a buffer and not ever touch the paint by hand you will need a special bonnet made for doing this, usually a micro fiber slip on bonnet to go over the foam pad. I would first work the product in with the foam (if using the NXT work it into the paitn with the soft black or gray foam pad)

and make sure to use a CLEAN DRY pad for use under the MF bonnet. If you use a dirty or wet pad it'll leak through the bonnet

Meguiars makes a good bonnet, I have a couple of them. It's got a nice bite to it. I've yet to use any others though.

Thanks alot. I will order some meg pads today and let you know how it turns out. One other question. Do you use the quick detail spray after you have just waxed to get rid of all the little white particle dust left from the nxt wax?

Yes, it always adds to a wax job if you use a detailer spray after you wipe off a coat of wax or polish.....

since NXT is a polymer...ya think its OK to QD right away?? if you've got that much dusting maybe you applied to heavy to begin with...maybe a MF towel lightly misted with QD to get rid of the dust or better yet a cali duster

Zaino is a synthetic and we recommend using Z-6 detailer right after wiping off the polish to make more of a 3D look....

I probably put too much wax on. I put it on by hand I will put it on with the porter next time. The cali duster idea sounds pretty cool
