Default Water spots on new black paint...

My sister recently purchased a black Explorer. She took it to the beach last weekend and it came back with some major water spots. The paint is virgin. I washed (just the hood)w/Z7, rinsed, dried and sprayed some Z6 on it in a quikie attempt to see if the detailing spray would have any affect. Not much.

What should I do now? I have on hand all Zaino products and some Griots machine polishes #1, #2, and #3. Kinda tenative about using the polishes so soon on new paint.

The vehicle was probably painted months ago. Thus, it is not a "virgin". Lets assume the dealer did some sort of detailing before your sister got the Explorer. Maybe even used wax.

Find a less noticeable area that has spots. Do a complete Zaino process. Dawn wash, clay with Z7/water solution, rinse and dry that area, Z6, Z5 w/ZFX, Z6, Z5 w/ZFX, Z6 and finally Z2 w/ZFX. You should be able to see a difference after the 1st Z5.

Ordered a starter Zaino kit for brother-in-law and passed on the vinegar advice to him. Will see how he does with the process next week. Thanks

I've used vinegar too, and it does the job....just be prepared to re-wax the car after you do it, since the vinegar will take the wax off.

Water spots aren't the end of the world. Zaino is a great product. Starting from a good wash down, dry the vehicle off in the shade. If you have the time, clay barring before a second wash will bring out the shine better than anything I’ve seen. Once you get a base coat of Z2 or Z5, you shouldn’t have problems with water spots again unless you dry the car off in the sun. Even so, a good coat of Z2 or Z5 will clear things up.

Happy polishing!

yes it does take off the wax but it pretty much gets off everything along with the wax. I use it on water spots all the time, its great!

You want to use white vinegar (not red) if that does not wipe them off try a clay bar next...
