Default 3M rubbing compound help

I have these fine scratches on my rear panel and some are deep enough to feel with my finger nail and are white. I purchased item 39002 3m perfect-it rubbing compound for fine scratches and swirls meant for 1200 grit and finer scratches. I just wanted to know if it was safe to use this product on my paint and if there are any precautions i should take. Thanks

it's fine. just make sure you buff that same area with something like the 3M imperial hand glaze after using the rubbing compound. you also may want to try wet sanding the area first ...
