Default Pressure Washer

OK to use? Honestly don't know either way...

Figured if I got one I could hit the car twice a week to make major cleaning less of a chore.

What's the reasoning on not using it? Will it blast contaminants into the clearcoat or something?

Default My Thoughts

Its a good idea in theory - I mean really, water is supposed to be the cleanest substance etc, and you'd have a touchless carwash, which should be Ideal.

However remember that water has many minerals, using the pressure washer is going to really imbed those into your clearcoat good and haze it up (give it the old faded look)

Also, if you go from an angle, any dirt that you have will be "pushed" by a very high power stream of water. When your washing with a pressure washer its not like the water immediatly gets under the dirt and it never touches the car again, your gonna press it against the car with the force of the water, for at least a short distance until it gets washed away.

Personally whenever I wash my cars I use a hose and just put my thumb over it, or I'll whip out the spray nozzle and "mist" the car. I never use a direct jet on the car though.

You know those car wash bays where you drop in some quarters for 3 minutes of water? Are those considered high pressure. Of course, if you actually squeeze the handle, it gets to be be pretty high, but what if you just let it flow without squeezing down? The water comes out pressurized, but I don't think it's too high.

Hope I'm right.

if I could do it, I would only do it with deionized water.

other than that, a high powered system from close up could probably make creases in the metal, and carelessly blow emblems off the car if not careful...

maybe a rinse and just do it from 2 feet away so it becomes more of a mist than a solid stream.
