Default Polisihing Lip On Rims

I know there was a thread started a while back but can't find it anymore... But my question was, what's the best/easiest way to polish the lip on rims without scratching them??

Blue Magic Metal Polish is the best I've used. Used to use Mother's Aluminum polish but this is way better.

I use compressed air to blow away any debris before polishing..a leaf blower will do the ame thing. I've used Wenol, NXT All Metal Polish, Mothers' etc., they all work well with a micro-fiber towel.

Are those products safe on clear coated wheels? How about Volk Wheels?

i think those products will ruin the finish on wheels with a clear coat.
for wheels with a clear coat, i think all u need to do is wash it just like u would wash your car. with carwash soap and water.

I have the RH j5's and i just used my NXT carwash to clean them and they looked great. I had bought that blue magic metal polish but wasn't sure if that would cause any problems. I'm not going to use it just in case.

Try Mothers Billet Polish. Its not very abrasive as some of the other metal polishes like Mothers Mag and Alum. Buff off with a micro fiber towel.

What about using plain old soap and water to wash your chrome wheels?

Chrome is a much more abrasion resistant metal ...soap and water or a good chrome polish will work. Polished metal surfaces, on the other hand, scratch very easily and require due diligence when cleaning.

A question for anybody that knows?

I have some iforged wheels with the polished non-clearcoated lip. One of the lips have become badly scuffed and in need of a very good buffing.

What do I need to do to get the lip back to that mirror shine? Mother's aluminum polish and polishing cloths just aren't cutting it. Do I need to wet stand with different grits of sand paper, buff polish, then fine polish? Can anyone tell me what exactly to do? TYIA -Ricky-

Default Uh, what is the "lip"

I have an '03 Track w/Ray's, and I'm wondering what the "lip" is? Is it the small (1/2") flange of the rim before the wheel "dishes in" towards the hub? If so, there is really no sharp demarcation between the "lip" and the inner portion of the rim.

Of course, maybe I'm completely wrong; it's happened before, unfortunately!
