I've never taken it to the dyno and I do not powershift. This car can be shifted much faster than my Z32. Seems like i fly through the gears in the 350 in comparison.
If the local Z club ever has a dyno day i'll probably spin the rollers to see what it puts down, but I really would rather save my money for a dyno when I have a way to tune it. I am curious what kind of power it is putting down though.

We have pretty similar mods and my car dynoed at 297 SAE RWHP. Only things I have extra are the cams. You are probably pretty close to that.

did you dyno before and after the cam upgrade? i'm curious how many hp they're good for.
Your car looks sweet! How do you like B&M shifter? I have one sitting in the garage but haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

It was dynoed after the cams. I love the shifter!! One of the most fun mods on the car. Its a bit noisy at high RPM though.

awesome to see....

speedy you the man!!!

One time i waited 20 seconds after the light turned green and ran a 13.0, so that must translate to a -7 second pass right???

I would love to have a z owner on slicks around here to run....they are all in the 14's

As it said in the artical : "Let's go back to the Christmas Tree. We said that each light was a half-second apart, and thus a .500 light was a perfect reaction time. The reaction timer starts when the third amber lights, and stops when the car's tire leaves the starting line (ie, stops blocking the Stage beam)."

His "0.001" reaction time was achieved by leaving the starting line before the light turned to red. In order word, he left 0.499 seocnd earlier and therefore his correct e.t. should be 0.499 seconds more.
The time starts when he goes, regardless whether he redlights or not.

It does not need to be corrected!

If you redlight, you do lose the race, but it does not affect your time, other than your reaction time.

In other words, if he ran the exact same run, and didn't red light, it still took him the same amount of time to traverse the 1/4 mile, and the trap speed wouldn't be different.

The tree is all about reaction time, and sometimes you can beat someone with that has a quicker time, if you have a better reaction time, because you got off the line first.

It won't make your e/t and trap any different though.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yeah, congrats on an awesome time. I would like to hit 12's with bolt ons eventually.

That is correct, but it has nothing to do with the great time heturned.

3.9 final drive is tempting, but i think i gotta save my cash for the turbo kit. It would most likely add a shift to 5th, but i'm sure it would be good for a few tenths. I'll have to install the b&m and see it that helps out at all, but I doubt i'll have to do it before friday night's race.
Thanks again for the kind words everyone.

I don't think you want to do a 3.9 final drive if you are going to go F/I. You will run out of gears too fast.

mod list is updated-thanks for the reminder. i'll post some pics of the 300 tonight or tomorrow. Nice stang. i need to slap on the ET streets and take mine to the track. if it runs a 12 i'll have 3 cars in the 12's! hope to have the z32 in the 11's soon though.

Maybe I missed it, but how much did all your mods cost? And which ones actually helped you post a 12.9? I mean, does the exhaust mods help, or is it primarily the engine and tranny mods?

Default mods answer

many of the mods were on the car when I purchased it, but I made some changes since purchasing the car. click HERE for more info on what's been done so far.

Other than the mods I've done I can't accurately tell you what has contributed to the gains. It has been debated extensively on twinturbo.net whether or not a lightweight flywheel will give a performance gain in the 1/4 mile, but most road racers love them. I have them on both of my Z's however, but I go to track events as well as drag race.
I believe the power mods do make a noticeable difference in the top end where airflow is paramount. With the close ratio tranny in these cars you don't drop a lot of rpm's between shifts and are always at the upper end of the rpm range. A good launch always helps too, but seems to lose a few mph on the top end when using ET Streets and low tire pressures.

I don't know what the previous owner paid for the mods that were on the car, but the intake kid i have retails for $109 filter, $149 jet hot coated pipe and samco connectors, $154 for the varis duct. Test pipes go for $139 and the 5Zigen A-Spec I have is a prototype but it's expected to retail for $589 according to SPL's website. The battery relocation we did was a custom job and i'm not sure if SPL is going to sell it as a kit or not yet.

Hope this answers a few of your questions.
