Need your help for 1/8 mile time
Hey fellow Z drivers:
I want to improve my 1/8 mile time and would GREATLY appreciate constructive thoughts or analysis. Here are my stats:
60' 2.251
330' 6.086
1/8 9.18 @ 82.28 mph
Modded enthusiast with stock 17's....V4 Plenum, Borla (not true dual), JWT popc.

you just need to learn how to be smooth when you launch the car on street tires. After driving a z for a little while I dont think it would be difficult to pull 2.0 60's consistently or even 1.9s on stock rubber.
other suggestions:
-try heating up your tires a little bit
-hold the revs around 3500 and slip the clutch(you will probably ride it too much at first, but just keep letting it quicker and quicker until you get a little tire spin, that should put you in the low 2.0s)
-keep the air pressure around 25psi
your driving looks fine with that mph, but getting out of the hole is the most important part of drag racing. Doint it on street tires takes a finesse to say the least, but its easily learned with some practice

I concur with the above post. Drop your 60' times and watch your ET improve. I like to line up the car when staging in the "groove" as its known. Look for the heavy black stripes of rubber as this area should provide the best traction.
Good Luck!
Good Luck!
Thanks for your posts....do you think 82mph for 1/8 trap is pretty high for a Z? I don't recall many Z's in my part of town trap that high....probably high 70's.
I'm assuming this just means that the launch for me is the real barrier to preventing me from breaking high 13's?

For reference, my 60 ft time was 2.236 and my 1/8 mile time was 9.007 @ 80.82.
So you should def be able to get into the high 13's. Launch better and just shift as fast as you can.

Your 1/8 ET isnt too bad for the bad 60ft, so your shifting seems to be there. Work that launch and you'll be good
And DO NOT shift at 5500 into 2nd that guy is a douche bag. Shift at redline every fear.

I go to Qualcomm all the time and my best in my 5AT G is 9.1. Try racing the left side track you hook up better on that side. I think they prep the left side better for the muscle cars the right side track is always slippery. Also remember Qualcomm is not an official drag strip it is just a parking lot set up for drag racing. Good luck tonight if you are going hopefully the rain will stop. Also another thing go early like before it opens so that you can get more runs in to practice your launch at different RPMS. Modded civics and integras can run that time or better at Qualcomm so get there early to practice. I hope this helps and good luck again!!

My advice to you is stick to the left side of the two strips...i'm there all the time (was there last night) and i get consistent 9.3 and 9.4 times, still ****y times, but not bad considering it isn't that great of a track
