Default first time racing the Z...

so I went to Irwindale (1/8 mile) tonight with my new 350Z Track.

I've only raced front wheel drives before so this was my first time on a rear wheel drive.

I went bone stock including the spare. I lowered the tire pressure to 25 psi and left the stop light fuse in but turned off VDC

Burnout went actually pretty well even though I left the fuse in

I did 3 runs:

first run I launched at 4000 rpm
2.1.89--- 60' foot
6.139-- 330' foot
9.385--- 1/8
76.62--- MPH

Second run I launched at 4500 rpm:
2.268 ---60' foot
6.232-- 330' foot
9.477--- 1/8
76.61--- mph

third run the car performed like hell...see below

Now the damn shiftlight is worth nothing I could hardly see it and I kept hitting the limiter also whenever I shifted into 2nd the tires spun hard (do you guys feather into 2nd? )
I'm happy with my launches
but the shiffting I got to get down, the clutch engagement is just very different from the celica that I'm used to

Now here's the really annoying part:
the tire pressure sensor triggers an alert, I think if the pressure is below 28 psi. This shrill beeping that keeps on repeating...very distracting and I'm not sure but I think it limited the power of the car dramatically on the third run. Once I upped the pressure again it went away after about 5 minutes driving.
Is there a way to disable this stupid alert? I'm getting DR's next week on the stock rims though, is there a way to just disconnect that sensor and would that elimanate the warning?

Overall it was a lot of fun and with dr's a better shift light and shiftpoint practise I should be doing pretty well soon.
I'm also getting the technosquare reflash once they re-release it hopefully in early feb and then n2o after the first maintenance...

I like that track. Not too far away, and good practice for launching.I'd like to see what I can do with my n2o there.
Hey, I know you like the maximizer & all but I have an extra Zex kit for cheap if your interested.

I get my best results running the stock pressure, and launching at 3K.

I also loose traction going into 2nd, but you have to shift quick for best results.

My best 1/8th so far has been an 8.89 stock.

I should add that I set my shift light for 6,900, and shift right as the light comes on.

Hmmm, does that MPH seem a bit low? I would have figured maybe 79-80? I've been to Irwindale with my Mach, and would average about 84 MPH trap. I was hoping my brand new 350 would at least hit 80..

With a 2.1 60' I would think your 1/8 would be way better. I don't know how much traction your losing in 2nd.

I granny shift every gear (clutch/gas - clutch/gas), and like VeeTec, I shift very fast into second. They break for a second and then catch. And then keep shifting as fast as I can.

I drop my pressure down to 25 psi and warm up the stock tires pretty good.

My best run:

60' - 2.236 ( workin on it)
1/8 - 9.007 @ 80.82
1/4 - 13.796 @ 103.91

That's a crappy 60' with a sweet ET and MPH. So with your better 60' foot time you should be able to run faster. Are you at sea level?

I'm still bad at hitting the right shift point, I keep on shifting a bit too early. I'm going back tomorrow and expect another improvement
but yes I seem to slip quite a bit in 2nd and then catch again

I'm interested in knowing how you do in Irwindale. In addition, let me know if quickshifting into 2nd and hiting WOT is better or partial/feathering into 2nd would work better.

I'll keep posting my improvements, last few weeks irwindale has been horrible, last week I got in 2 runs within 3 hours...every second car kept on breaking down. I hope it'll be better tomorrow.

I know the feeling coming from fwd...I kicked booty on fwd launches
so far I have to say that feathering is the trick. I used to be able to rev to 7k and then drop the clutch and take off on the celi. On the Z you have to baby it or you spin out. I still have hella wheel spin whenever I get into 2nd, might have to feather there as well
