Default Question, Z verse 01 Cobra

Has anyone in here ran against a 00-01 Cobra with 320 hp ?
This guy on my job recently totaled his Z and bought a
01 Cobra Mustang. He's claiming that it's totally faster
but yet I pulled some numbers for the car 0-60 and
1/4 mile times and the are nearly the same as the 350z.
I think just because the car has a louder rumble that
it's giving him the impression that it's a faster car.
your thoughts ?

As a Mustang and 350Z owner, I'll tell you the Cobra will be faster. The 350Z is slightly faster than the GT. My Mach, which has essentially the same motor dyno'd at 289RWHP and 312 RWTQ stock. From stops or rolls it will eat my 350Z up.

I don't know, if its stock, and the drivers are equal, I say it will be close.

I beat a stock Mach I 5 speed twice, a few months back at the track.

The traps were almost dead on though, I just got the hole shot.

I didn't mention but I ran against a older Cobra my best guess 97-99 version
this summer at a light.. We both gunned it from a rolling stop from 20-80 and I broke away about 1-1/2 car lengths.
I have a 5 speed touring

Beat the driver, not the car.. I typically trap 105-106 MPH in my Mach, Z's do about 99-102 on average.. From a stop a Mach shines. They're two different types of cars.

If that is true; now I wonder what the turn out would have been in my race? We did go from a roll.

Same results most likely, but a wider margin. Machs can launch pretty well. I have both cars, I love them. The Z cannot match the Mach in straight line performance, but in terms of handling, far and above.

Is your Mach stock? Those traps are much higher than what I have seen at the track, stock.

My Z traps 102-103, which has been almost dead on what the Mach's I have seen were trapping.

The Mach I is easier to launch, but I am one of those people that can hit 500-501 lights. I don't always hit them, but I can run in the low 500's consistently if I try.

I wish I could hit a 1.8-1.9 stock 60'!

I am getting rid of the Potenza's soon, as they spin like crazy, and I am going with Eagle F1's, in hopes of getting better all around traction.

Pretty much stock, K&N and catback.. Stock Machs that I've seen at Mach1registry.com will trap 103-106 when well driven. You have some sweet times with your Z bro..

Are you going with the GS-D3s or the F1 GS?
The F1 GSs came on my car and only hook well (in my car) when they were brand new.

Racing is all a mental game! For some reason once you hit a speed of about 135mph people don't want to race anymore!! so you get out there and tear him a new one!! Or at least try!!

What in the world does your R/T have to do with the way a car launches??

On the subjet of 00-01 Cobras...there were no regular 2000 model year Cobra's made. Only the exotic Cobra R.

A 2001 Cobra would kill a 350Z.

Nothing, but it has a lot to do with who gets to the end first.
