I wouldn't sweat it too much, trying to get into the 13's require work at this track.

Best I've done soo far with a stock Z was 14.6@95.90 (2.15 60'), but of course that was on a 90+ degree day (DA of 4000ft.+).

Today looks rather cooler (June 18 - Public Street Legal Drags), soo maybe I'll hit the low 14's today.

yeah, it was teasing all day

my best run was a 14.033

rt------.265
60'----2.096
330'---5.901
1/8----9.052
MPH---80.20
1000--11.748
1/4----14.033
MPH---98.71

I was running MT ET streets for the first time in my life, JWT Clutch and flywheel,Technosquare L-Spec other than that 100% Stock
so overall I'm very happy

getting a decent burnout was my biggest challenge the car kept on violantly fish tailing during burnouts so I could not get the tires heated

man, running with slicks is completely different, it felt like skatting

I got in 12 runs, could have easily gotten 40 but didn't want to overdue it.
Best track day ever, I'll be back next time.
good seing you again GTO2350 and good to meet you IGOTTAZ
lost of very fast ZX300's also very cool people

IGOTTAZ was being teased all night as well but he beat the Cali Speedway demons at the end....but I'll let him share that

I tried the public street legals, but the preping was horrible for me this day. I could not get my 60's down bellow 2.2's, going into 2nd gear was creating some wheelhop. On my last run, I got the dreaded wheelhop from 3rd to 4th again. My day was basically 14.7 to 14.8 with no traction, 15.1 on the last run with wheelhop. Traction got the best of me today and running with the stock 17's with 235 rears just wasn't ideal. It wasn't a pretty sight to see the launch pad with alot of slick and rubber chunks either.

Weather was nice for some decent runs, one stock Z did 14.5 (2.2 60') with jacks and spare out + intake (with stock 18"). Another 03 track model did 14.3 on Nittos; 2.1 60' (with a passenger too). I did the worse with my stellar 235 rears (I'm almost tempted to get the SSR SP1's with 275 rears).

Probably, the only best part of the day I had was getting the best reaction time of .001 (.000 is perfect in CSW) for the day. I won the Carl's Jr 1 Free hamburger a week for 1 year.

I had a chance to see a Nissan Altima SE-R in action, he ran a 14.4@98 (or was it a 100). They have some nice Bridgestone tires SP-03 for stock tires .

July 9th is the next public street legal drags. You can check the California Speedway Street Drag website.

i'll be up there next time with better street tires and the technosquare ecu flash i'll definately be in the 13's

after dynoing my car and seeing low numbers 246rwhp and 232lb tq i was kinda dissapointed i guess the dyno's aren't really worth anything after seeing flyZ boy's dyno numbers hes putting out higher numbers than me and i have all the bolt on's and hes completely stock but im getting a better 1/4mile e.t and higher trap.

p.s i got my best launches with my street tires by avoiding the water pit and not burning out. every time i went through the water pit and burned out i woud get wheel hop.

It's those Nismo License Place Holders that are adding the additional 15 whp...

just messing with ya FLZ Boy

seeing the times the other stock z's did yesterday make me even happier about my runs.

I'll be back at Irwindale this thursday and hope for 8's since that track is that much better.

come out to Irwindale first. It's every thursday from 4 to 10 and you get more runs in. It's only an 1/8 mile but a better track.

I'll be there this coming thursday again.

Dyno numbers aren't really that accurate, just an indicator. I may peak better on the HP category, but doesn't mean I have a great powerband thourgh out the gears, thus running a slower time.

I did trap my Z @ 100 with a full tank of gas +spare and jack in the car. 14.6@100 with a 2.3 60' (35 PSI rears). However, that run was on a nice cold weather with no headwind, just I can't hook too well with 235 rears.

My day is comming when I'll hit 13's, I just have to go on a private day when the weather is nice, no headwind, get some bigger rear tires, and be the first in line when the VHT is freshly sprayed on the track. Okay, well since its CSW, maybe not.

Damn, soo what's the fastest anyone has hit at Cali Speedway?

My best recorded and witnessed run was 12.7 at 118mph and a 60' of 2.01, which obviously shows room for improvement. I haven't been back to the track since Feb. for many reasons. I had planned on going yesterday, but again, I had other issues I had to attend.

Tomcat, besides the fishtailing, how did the launch feel? Did you try launching at different RPM's? Were there any different noises emitted?

FYI: just incase you guys wonder about my mods: intake, plenum, headers, catdeletes, exhaust, pulleys.... and some juice

I have heard a few people doing 14.1 stock at california speedway, but that day would require some exceptional situations.

Of the norm, I usually see most Z's run mid 14's stock.

Launching on street tires is a huge disadvantage with the Z. There wasn't one time when i launched where i didn't have to let off the gas. I had to let off every single time to avoid spinning out of control and going sideways in 2nd gear. I think that i couldve done better with the stock re40's the rubber compound on that tire feels alot more softer than the hard rubber on my continental tires.

Just to show you how much difference tires make my friend with a srt4 on the same day i ran, ran on street tires and ran a 13.7 and he swapped out his tires for some drag radials and on the next run he ran a 13.1, and on the next run with slicks a 12.8.

Yeah, that's me. And thanks! I do what I can.

I wasn't spraying 150, I think that day I only had 125 since my plenum was cracked and I was worried I would finish breaking it open with a larger shot.

Like I say all the time, the next time you guys go, let me know. Hopefully this time around I will be able to schedule things a bit better, and I doubt I'll have other emergencies come up.

I tried all kinds of different launches, the best was the last one at about 4300 rpm. I also just got the jwt clutch and flywheel installed last weekend and had never launched on that, so many new variables...I'm excited about more practise on thursday

mrtomcat, you are going to be at Irwindale this thur. I probably will not be able to make it till about 7:00pm or so. Is that to late? The reason I ask is because I know that if tech closes I will not be able to run. If it's not to late I will see you out there!

I believe tech closes at around 7 pm, but usually at that time it's so busy you won't get many runs anymore.
