What is Best 16" Wheel for MT ET Street Radials?
Where can I get a good price on two 16 inch rear wheels for MT ET Street Radials for my '04 enthusiast. For drag racing natch.
Looking at the tire sizes available for the MT ET Street radials:

Now I am thinking the P255/50R16s of this tire will hook up better than the P275/40R17s because the former size has the taller sidewall, 50 profile rather than the latter size which has the shorter sidewall, 40 profile tires. Even though the 40 profile tire has 20 mm wider tread. I think the taller sidewall is better for drag racing traction. But having said that, the 17 inch tire may hook up good with my car even with the 40 profile sidewall. And I think the smaller 15 in. tires and wheels might not work with 350Z brake calipers. I could be wrong on this last point.
Anyway, the problem I am having is finding a 16 inch wheel that fits our 350Zs (lug pattern) and is preferably 9 inches. You know a 16 X 9 in. rim on which to fit the P255/50R16 tires. I think an 8 inch rim can be fitted with that tire, but the 9.0 inch rim would be more optimum.
I have found a good rim, I think, a 5zigen model N01-R-C, 17 X 9.0 in. rim with a 35 mm offset that will fit the P275/40R17 tires. But again, I think I had rather have the taller sidewall P255/50R16 in. tires for drag racing. If I could find a rim to fit my 350Z that is 9 inches wide with the given 16 inch rim.
Here is a website for the 5Zigen 17 X 9.0 inch with 35 mm offset rim/wheel. The price on this rim/wheel is $217 before taxes (may be no tax on internet sale?).

And of course this does not include mounting the tires on the rims and balancing.
Like I said, these new MT ET Street Radial tires are so good that the 17 inch wheels and tires may hook up wonderfully even with the 40 profile sidewall. If I could though I'd probably go with 16 inch wheels and tires granted that I can't actually try both combinations before buying.

There is a guy who runs 1.5-1.6 60foots on an auto(and 6-700hp I would guess) z32 with the 255/50/16 tires you mention. He uses them on stock z32 rear wheels (16x8.5). I use the same wheel but with et street non radial 26x16x11.5 and my best is a 1.69 60 ft in my z33. I have cut a 1.46 in a z32 with the same tires.
If you're looking for the 275's in 17's you can get the fno1rc's for $199 at www.splparts.com-that's where I got mine that i mounted my road racing hoosiers on. I would guess the 17x9 with 275's should be a comparable option traction wise when using the mt et street radial.

i would definitely grab a WAFFLE pony. its a 16x7 lightweight wheel that is stock on v6s and base model gts form 94+
its the 5 star pattern. i have run anywhere form a 245 nitto to a 10 inch et drag or 11.5 inch cheater slick
