Default Nice air at Atco tonight

The breakdown:

2003 5AT Touring
Stock best: 13.6@101 (did it once, hit more consistant 13.7's and 13.8's than anything)

3 gallons Shell 93 Octane/1 gallon 103 race gas
20psi in rears
Removed spare/jack/mat

the breakdown today:

I ran a 13.8, 13.7, 13.6, 13.5, 13.6, 13.4, 13.5 Trapping 101 mph, every time but the very last I managed to get 102.05

I cut a variety of 60's

2.3 x 1 (the 13.8 run, absolute first run of the day, cold track, not a lot of rubber....2500 stall)
2.0 x 2 (the 13.7 and one of the 13.6's, 2200 and 2400 stall)
1.9 x 4 (the rest, 2500 stall, hooking like a ****)

My best today was

60' - 1.956
1/8 - 8.689 @ 80.83
1/4 - 13.494 @ 101.89

On bald Pontenza's, less than the legal limit of tread left

Best run was at 63 degrees, 88% humidity, 29.57 barometer

There was a fellow Z'er there with a stock Redline, didn't get a chance to see what she ran though.

Didn't you GUARANTEE me an E.T. quicker than my 13.3 with your mods??

Congrats on the good runs...but you're still a far cry from low 13s, so maybe next time don't talk so much cr@p about what you're GOING to run...just let us know when you do.

PS - You've got A LOT of catching up to do now :looksatsig:

Damn 13.4 in an auto with bolt-ons is great. Im surprised your trap didnt go up more though....1.9 60ft is great, you'd beat 90% of 6MT bolt-on Z's on the street from a dig.

Heh, I knew this was coming. I said it once, you dwelled on it for 100 more posts, but we won't go into that. Plus, my mods are different than I was bench racing with before.
Yea, I won't be catching up anytime soon. And guess what, the season is still young, a different night with less humidity and 13.3 is definately possible.

PS, the brake fuse removal and big burnouts on street tires help, I am a dead hook from 2500rpms...completely stalled.

I noticed you stated that you are on nearly bald stock tires. That will definitely help your 60' since you virtually eliminate tread block flex which hurts traction. It's a common misconception that worn out tires are bad for the drag strip when in fact they are BETTER for the drag strip. Go back with some new tires...and your 60's would go back up. Unless of course the new tires are DRs or slicks..assuming you have enough stall not to bog with them.

Nice runs.

I plan on running around 13.3 once the weather cools here.

That's exactly why people shouldn't make predictions about what times they think they'll run, 99 times out of 100 that only leads to disappointment. But don't feel bad because you still ran good times.

Well, what people aren't taking into account is I predicted a 13.3 with headers as well...but thats water under the bridge at this point. Next on my list is definately a stall, 1.9's last night and I was holding 2500rpms at the line for a dead hook...almost bogging. Higher launch with a slight bit of spin to get me in the higher rpms will be better.

What is your technique for the over 2000 rpm stalls? I've read that you keep the revs at 1000-1500 and on 1st yellow mash the gas while holding the brake. The RPMs will go to 2000 and then slowly climb towards 2400 then by that time the 3rd yellow will be lit and let go of the brake. Let me know if this accurate or not. I don't want to look like a** at the track tomorrow thanks.

I just hold it at 2500 when the yellows start, make sure your brake fuse is out too. If you're not too familiar with it, do a search for "brake fuse mod".......

Default I am the girl in the red Z from atco

Hey Domz! I am the one that met you at the atco the other night. Nice runs! My best so far has been 14.2. Like I said completely stock. I think the lower air pressure in my tires helped-25 psi. But next time I might bring it down to 20-21 to see what happens. I had fun the other night! My next 2 runs after that one I beat the guy in the burgundy vette (was he with you?) and that really loud rotary mazda. I want to break 13's so bad! It's so hard to launch the 6spd. I was trying to do a good burnout with a tip I read, but the car stalled every time I took my foot from the clutch and applied it to the brake. May need to practice somewhere besides the track.

Anyway, let me know when you'll be getting to the track again, it would be fun to run against you. AND motivating. I found that Thursdays at atco are usually less crowded with the gambler crowd.

Cool! My buddy in the Vette actually jumped out of the rut when he shifted into 3rd.(14.8? lol) He said he was never so scared in his life! He went on later that night to break the world record for a stock C5 Vette (stock oil from the factory, paper filter on stock Eagle F1 runflats! 12.63@111).

Did you remove the brake fuse before you went out? It could have been a combo of sidestepping and the power cut that caused you to die out.

Those gamblers are a godsend. I was first in line after every time they ran with tons of hot rubber and warm track to run on.

You should come up to our local meets, we meet up in Cherry Hill on Sunday nights...see my post in the Northeast forum!

I took my brake fuse out on Friday when I went to the track but one time I decided to take the first turnoff and when I hit the brakes with moderate pressure I loocked the front wheels. I guess it turns off the abs. My abs and slip light stayed lit when the fuse was out.

Nah I took the stop lamp fuse out I'm positive of that. Did u have any lights on your dash....actually now that I think about it you have an 03 and they're alot different from the 05's. Next time you take the fuse out not even going fast slam the breaks on and see if the abs comes on......

Taking out the brake lamp fuse DOES disable ABS...just because you haven't locked up your brakes doesn't mean your ABS wasn't disabled.
