Question Racing fuel and test pipes.

I understand that any leaded fuel destroys catalytic converters. For those with test pipes, do you run leaded racing fuel? The stuff that is sold as red, blue, purple?

I use 100 octane which is not leaded, street legal and "not anymore harmful than 91" fuel.

I was running 110 octane leaded when I was in Cali. Only been able to find 100 octane out here though.

well im NA and race fuel makes a difference of about 5hp, but i still run it if im about to do a race because it makes a near 10 ft/lb or torque difference. I have Helix test pipes too. For the most part i use 110 octane which is Cam II Blue.

Bobby where do you get it? At the track? There used to be a Sunoco near me that sold 100 Octane, but they closed it down.

With Leaded fuel you need to be careful not to ruin your O2 sensors as well. I would suggest a wideband for the first O2 sensor & test pipes with non-foulers for the second set. Also some type of A/F Control ie Apex-i S-AFC II.

Here's a list of MD Sunoco's that sell GT100 fuel:

I ran some Sunoco 112 leaded at the track tonight. Seemed to help a tiny bit.

Don't run leaded fuel test pipes or no test pipes. It does help, but I run 103 mixed with 93 sometimes...I'm going to try coasting in with my DTE light and grab some 110 unleaded this week.

Not to mention destroying O2 sensors.

Waste of money on anything but a highly stressed F/I motor that's set up to take advantage of it. In fact it might even slow you down.

Why bother when you have 94 octane Sunoco out East?

Sunoco is ditching 94, actually they already have. They're selling what's left from what I believe.
