Default th350 installed on Boulder Nissan z

I wanted to give a quick review on our install. Tranny is installed and we are currently fabricating rear tranny mount and driveshaft. Shifter location is nearly perfect (slightly forward from stock). The tranny cooler can also pose a problem depending on how extensive your mods are and the size of the cooler (as we all know space is very tight in the z). Another modification we encountered is that if you have a greddy kit (not sure about other kits) you will probably need to relocate the wastegates. Other than those minor mods the install was very straight forward. The z is currently getting a 6 point "cage" installed(had a four point). Once that is completed I can provide pics in car and under car if anybody is interested. Thanks, Jason

sorry about that alberto, i didnt want to make the post too long. We have a fully built custom greddy (20g's) set-up.We have been developing this car since 2003. We produce about 630 rwhp and 610 rwtq at 17-18 pounds of boost on a conservative tune. Last year we were consistently running 11.6's at 125mph (fastest et was 11.4 @123). This was done at Bandimere speedway in colorado. The track is at 5800 feet elevation, with da's in the 8000 range more often than not( high 10 sec. car at sea level). These times were accomplished with the six speed tranny. This year we will be running the th350 listed above. We built the tranny with a 4800 stall and transbrake. With the slicks and gearing of the tranny we should run through the traps at 135mph at @7000 rpm. assuming we produce the power and tq. Only changes to the motor over the winter is wastegate springs. This year we will be running 21-22 pounds of boost. I did not go into great detail on our build because it would take an entire page (inj., engine mngt.,methanol inj., cams, drive axles, etc.) If you have any other questions about our z feel free to ask. I know alot of guys on the forum are looking to do this swap or the 400 and i figured i would let everyone know how our install went. Thanks, Jason

thanks guys, it has been alot of hard work. It was street legal and fairly streetable for a car at this power level. It has the VS widebody installed and allowed us to run a big rear tire, so traction was "okay". The times we ran were on the nismo suspension( not drag freindly). the car simply bolted(spun) off of the tree, no squat at all. I am sure this hurt our 60 foot time but we are trying to build a balanced "street car". The new tranny is a bit extreme for street duty but if someone wanted this tranny in a semi daily driven car a low stall should work well(2800 stall or so). If you run a search for Boulder Nissan you should be able to find some threads with pics of the car. I will post a few pics of the car on this thread when we get it back from the fabrication shop. Thanks, Jason

audiblemayhem, just read my post and wanted to clarify my answer to your question. Last year the car was very streetable, stillen exhaust, high flow cats, custom radio, air conditioning, etc. It ran those times in full street trim and could be driven to the track. However, once we made the decision to go with an aggressive high stall automatic we made other changes as well. In addition to the tranny mod it will no longer have a\c, custom radio or speakers and will now be equipped with a full 3 inch turbo back exhaust with very very free flowing mufflers. It will still retain all of the interior "stock" apperance aside from the bodykit. If you guys have anymore questions feel free to ask. Thanks again, Jason

audiblemayhem, we had an adapter plate made to fit to the block and the new th350, and then used a stock 350z auto flywheel modifyed to fit to a small convertor. We are running 26x10.5x15 M/T ET streets. I will post pics up as soon as we get it back from getting the roll bar installed, possibly end of next week . Thanks Eric

Very impressive guys. I saw the car after going to the CU/Husker game. It's unbeleivable. How much money do you guys have in that thing now?

Those are truly impressive times for up here at elevation.

What Turbo Kits have you been putting in the Z's. I want to get a JWT or APS TT set up. Are you guys looking to get APS certified?

Starchecker, We have been installing the greddy tt kits, a few turbonetics st kits, and a lot of other performance upgrades for the z(superchargers, exhaust, ect.). We are looking in to be an APS dealer, but if you are interested in the APS turbo kit feel free to stop by and we can talk about it, as we have many distributors that I can get that kit from. audiblemayhem, we were getting an average of 1.8 60's with the a few 1.7's last season. Thanks Eric

audiblemayhem, those 60' times were with the manual last season. We are hoping for 1.5 60' times with the nismo "roadrace" suspension and the auto this season. We will definitelty keep you posted. Thanks, Jason

7Second350z, The install was fairly seemless. Only problems we encountered was the plate needed a little more work to fit properly and the flywheel bolts will not work if swapping from a manual tranny(bolts diff. from man. to auto.). The bolts were on back order through Nissan so you might want to include the bolts, if needed, in the package. I know Eric is going to give you a call once the car is up and running. Thanks, Jason

boulder, you have line locks and building boost off the line, the 60s should be a bit lower, what is the weak link there?? lag?? too much grip and bog??

a lot of us guys with different stuff done are pulling high 1.6s and low 1.7s all day... not saying anything bad at all man, i love to see more real drag racers, just wondering what all was going on

most of us are running 26X8.5s MT ET on 15X8s....

keep up the good work and would love to see pics and more details...
