Track Time?
Got a 2005 350Z Touring going to the track sunday, my mods is only a injen cai and I never been to a track before and now I am wondering where to launch at 1.5K and what would be a good time for me?
I assume that this is test & tune not any sort of elimination rounds. You can try several starting techniques: 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 rpm. See which works best for you.
Remember that the start is actually two steps: transfer weight from the front to rear. Hit the gas hard. Many new racers pop the clutch and wonder why the tires spin excessively for 2.2 or 2.3 seconds.
If you get crazy wheel spin in second and are pointed at the wall (or the other lane) back off. No run is worth risking an accident. Practice, be safe and have fun.

First of all traction control is so women can drive in the snow and rain, turn it off, and turn off all other electronic crap that will inhibit your manual control over hte car. I'd recommend you learn about subtracting the various time points from each other to see which area you messed up at at differnt times.
If you did a 5 sec 330 foot and an 8 sec 660 foot, then it took 3 secs between that point, if the second time you go and its 5 sec 330 but 8.5 sec 660, you may conclude you messed up your 2nd gear shift, get the point.
I went to the track as a noob, and my first run was my best run strangley, but i have an auto and those are better for launching, the snyromesh gears of a manual and the extra gear are actually more important than the clutch aspect of a launch. (clutches help more with the rest of the race than the launch because they are less parasitic than torque converters)
