Exclamation Just got in from the track .... 05/10/06

Hey guys Josh here, I just got back from the strip and was quite dissapointed. I ran 8 times throughout the night and a best time of
14.34@100.40

i have a borla system with test pipes and an intake:
here were the other details.....

r/t .312
60' 2.19
330 6.07
1/8 9.31 @ 77.18
1000 12.04
1/4 14.31 @ 100.40

I have a Utec hooked up and im running the base map, noone local is willing to help tune it

so what do you think I did wrong?
rims are 18" chrome which dont help and the car is an 03.

Wrong forum and no time slips but...

This is you best in 8 runs? You do fine in the second 660 feet picking up 23mph. The first 660 feet has room for improvement. Heavy wheels and body kit sure don't help ET. Next time work work work on a 2.1 second 60-foot time and bring home a handful of 13.99 second time slips.

something is definately wrong!! when i had exact mods you have i ran a 13.8. without tuning.(which i need to do). is your car auto? if it is then that might be part of the prob. but even at that i think you should hit alteast 14.00. also i would not recomend running so many times. a good three or four times is enough. i just say from past experience.( ran it 5 or 6 times and on the way home at a mc donalds my Z was making weird chattering noises.) went away the next day but it scared the crap out of me.

My car is a 5AT and the first 2 runs ever totally stock were 14.3 from an idle. I am hitting 13.8's with less mods than you guys and street tires, spare jack and 1/2 tank of gas. Touring model too. I bet my car is pushing 3500# at the track, without me in it. I'm going to weigh it and find out.

Generally it is the launch, traction and shifting.

Your 60ft needs work but is enough for you to go 13's. Judging by your 1/8 ET you need to work on shifting faster...

I'm assuming this was KCIR. It's a not a quick track and if you run out there in warm weather, you'll be a bit slower. That's where I raced my G35. Don't worry, your ETs are very typical for what I see stock and lightly modded 350Zs running out there since 2003. I never saw NA 350Z break into the 13s out there. Not once.

Next time you go, take out all the loose items and run with a 1/4 tank of fuel. Also, don't bother going out there if the temps are above 80 degrees because you'll be significantly slower. Over 4 years, I measured consistent .3 and 3mph differences when running my Maxima out there on a 50 degree day vs an 80+ degree day. I never ran my G35 out there unless the temps were below 75. My G auto ran a best 14.32@97.7mph (z-pipe only) out at KCIR in brisk 50 degree November air.

Practice, practice, practice.
