I disagree. There is a big difference between 2.18 and 2.02 seconds. 2.02 seconds wound put topnotch350z at better than 14.03 seconds.

I know what you mean by a high 2.1...which is what the op achieved, and on the other end getting a low 2 flat. example, there is a huge differance with a 2.19 and a 2.00.

My point is that usually a consistant 2.1 and great shifting can squeak him in the high 13's, especially since he's modded. The problem is that he's on street tires and getting a 2.0 or a 1.9 would be a huge task to do consistantly....so until he gets drag radials to start cutting 1.8-2.0 60's his only option might be to work on the shifting.

Any one else care to analyze? I could be wrong, but this is what i could come up with using the information the OP gave us to try and help

Not sure how i can break this down to much bud other than telling you to make sure you shift at 6600rpm, work on the launching because from my experiance a better 60ft will give you a higher trap speed and obviously a better ET

Just noticed this reply that i missed, to my knowledge this is whats killing you. 2nd gear wheel spin killed my times and for a while i couldnt get past the 9.3's in the 1/8th until i found a way to go down the strip hard without spinning in 2nd and started improving my times. If you spin in 2nd you might as well start over because you just lost 0.1-0.3 in time down the strip

all i can do is work on my launching i guess...i just find it very weird how i ran a 14.1@98 but 14.2's@99 yet my friend who i bought the car from ran a 14.3@101

maybe the tracks timing is just off or something? sac raceway isnt exactly the best around and i hear they dont prep it anymore like they used to

so then i should shift slower and hope it doesnt affect my time as much as spinning in 2nd would?

definatly do not shift slower. This is what i did, before i would usually shift as quick as i could into 2nd gear and i would stomp on the gas....which would cause wheel spin. Now i shift into 2nd as quickly and efficiently as possible and then i squeeze the gas pedal kind of like i would squeeze an orange with my foot, almost in the same motion as shifting (it's that quick and almost simultaneous)...not sure if you get me or if i'm even explaining it right. It's one of those things you need to just practice at.

First things first...don't run at Sac on a Wednesday (bad prep/no VHT). Pay a little more and run on a Saturday...or go to Infineon. I ran consistent 13.4-13.5@103-104/2.0 60's with similar bolt-on's as you on a Wednesday and 13.1@104/1.89 60 on a Saturday (with Nitto DR's that happen to be 4sale ).

you know i was thinking of doing that, going on a saturday and just play around with different rpm launches, shifting, etc. oh one thing i forget to ask is would lowering the tire pressure help?

kinda off topic but how much you sellin them for? oh and what are your mods?

so instead of just stomping on the gas squeeze on it as fast as possible?

kind of....it's hard to explain. I think you'll know what i'm talking about as soon as you get out there and realize that spinning in 2nd is a no no ( you'll be conscious of it). You'll find out the balancing act between stomping and progressively gasing it without slowing down the strip.
