Default Modded and can't break 13's

I dunno why but i feel like something is wrong with my times considering my mods. My best time is 14.198@98.966 with a 2.188 sixty foot time. Car is an 03 track model with jwt pop charger, motordyne 5/16 plenum spacer, stillen true dual catback and crawford cats...does this sound strange?

what are your track conditions(ELE ,temp, ect) and how often do you race? And could you type out the whole timeslip.

60 foot times don't seem too bad, although I have seen lower 60 foot times stock. Seems like you need to learn how to drive better, and/or need a tune.

It's not the car, it's the driver.

conditions were 68 degrees sacramento raceway, not sure on the level, im not new to racing or at least i think so i used to have a wrx and ran that car plenty at the track this is only my second time out on the z though here is the full slip-

I1 2.188
I2 6.037
I3 9.219
MPH (I3) 79.136
I4 .338
E.T. 14.198
MPH 98.966

I bought this car off my buddy and his best time on it before the crawford cats was 14.3@101 with a 2.2 sixty foot time

My shifting seems to be fine from what i can tell second gets some wheel spin and i chirp third, but as always the launch can be improved

Launching a rwd Z is a whole different ball game than launching an AWD STi. It definitely takes a good amount of finesse, practice, and, well, just knowing how it "feels" when the car is about to break traction.

You also don't mention the most important modification when it comes to running lower ET's - tires. What kind are you running?

Practice your launches at the the track, and practice powershifting as close to redline as possible without hitting the rev limiter and you should break 13's with no issues. That, and look into possibly getting some better rubber. A well driven Z should can be under 2.0 60fts and 100+ traps with the amount of mods listed.

Launch is enough to get 13's, your shifting needs some work, not a put down, but the 1/8 ET and 19mph difference from 1/8 to 1/4 mile tell me that. Do you have a system or anything that would add weight? Are you shifting at redline?

2.18 seconds is not the end of the world. Alberto mentioned ¼ and 1/8 mile trap speeds. In the second 660 feet you are picking up only 20 MPH. I don’t understand that number.

Compare this time slip. Same 60 foot time. In the first 660 feet you are running better than my car. But look what happens during the second 660 feet.

Are you giving it 100% throttle as soon you start to let the clutch pedal up? You'll be surprised the number of UTEC logs laying around where people claim to have done a "WOT" run out on the street, but the UTEC log they posted is only showing 92% throttle input. A lot of the problem could be in your head. Just for the hell of it, let an experienced drag racer ride along with you. After the run, they can give you some tips. It worked for me--I was having trouble getting consistent 60' times. I found out that when I was staging, I wasn't very well situated on the "sticky" launch pad. I was a couple feet off of it, so I ended up with A LOT of spin. I had this guy come along (who originally showed me how to properly launch a car)... as I was staging, I remember him saying "You need to get your car more to the right! MORE. MORE. MORE." Anyways, I ended up with a sweet 2.0 on the stock Potenzas...

Best thing is through experience. You'll get it. Don't give up.

from what i remember i just mash on the gas as soon as i feel it gain traction and the clutch has been slipped out but yeah it could just all be in my head...im gonna slap myself if its cuz of me not pressing the gas all the way but i dont think thats the problem so well see next time out on the track

it's the shifting....on street tires there is not much you can improve becuase you are already cutting 2.1's.
