Default First time to the track - what you think?

Well, was at county line drag this afternoon, got 3 runs in..... first time at the strip, and although it was only a 1/8, i had fun...

first time up - i was skeptical to burning out before my run.....why? cause i dont have slicks..whats the point? well, as 2 seconds where wasted with nothing but spinning, due to the water they put down, i come up around 4k rpm's and my shifter comes out of gear, yay.. anyway's at this point im like ok screw it and just finished to get it over with. My reaction time was 1.2, and like 60mph.

after my run i let a friend go at it, he did much better, ran a 9.6 @ 76 with a .9 reaction time. My last run was alot better also, i ran a 9.7 @ 74 with a .8 reaction time, but alot of spin on my launch.

I think it was decent for a practically stock engine (exhaust/intake) and being my first time out there, but ill let you guys be the judge.....

id like some input and tips on what to try and do next time, for instance....one of my friends said to start letting off the clutch once i see the 2nd to last light go on.

Congratulations. I make no judgments. The times are a starting point for improvement. I would rather see a 9.7 second verified time then a dozen kill stories in the street racing forum.

makes me feel good when I see times that are slower than mine

you might've launched with higher rpms which resulted for you to spin lowering also your 60'.. >2.2 I assume
better tires maybe? 1st time on the track so it's all good. we all have to start somewhere.

No offense but I think that is a really bad time.. It's probably your 60' time. First time at the track, so it's normal. The reaction doesn't change your ET or trap speed, it just helps you beat the driver in the lane next to you.

I haven't been to the track yet with my Z but there are 2 stock Z's that run down in the 1/8th and I've seen them hit 9.0-9.1 all night long..

When I had my scion tc with intake/header/exhaust I use to run 9.8's @ 73mph all night long. Just by driving the 350z I know it's alot faster then that.
