Default Drag racing 1/4 mile times

I took my Z to the track. Its completely stock with the exception of my 19" I-Forged Aero's. The best time I could conjur up was a 14.3 out of 8 runs. Do you guys think the 19" Aero's are slowing me down quite a bit? I felt like I made good runs but they were all 14.3-14.5 97-98MPH.

The WHEEL HOP was HORRINDOUS!!! So I was unable to launch above 2000-2500. Maybe tire pressure was an issue, not for sure. I'm too new to racing so I don't really know where to start to solve the problem of wheel hop.

I did beat a C5 at the track, he ran a 14.8 on my 14.4, I was at 98MPH and he was at 102 so he must have gotten a bad start!! Oh well, a win is a win!!!

The 60' time is the single most important # on your timeslip. Post your 60' times and what you ran the 1/4 mile in as well as the speed for each run. And yes, the 19" I-Forge's are hurting you.

Thanks for the reply

I'll have to check on the 60' times and post them later today

I know it was 2.2's for sure and trap was always 97-98.

I've got some rays on the way so I can't wait to see the difference.

Hmmm, My Z is basically stock and I ran a 2.24 60' and was trapping just a shade under 101Mph.. How many miles on your Z? As it says in my sig I was at only 3600 when I was at the track.. The Z supposedly gets to full potential around 8K miles..

What elevation are you at? While I'm not a proponent of posting corrected times, if you're at a high altitude that's going to hurt your times versus those of us close to sea level.

I'd guess that the 19's are definately hurting your times. If you're going to run at the strip a lot, I'd invest in a pair of drag radials and run them on your stock rims for track visits.

I am from the KC area so altitude shouldn't have affected it much. I have 4100 miles on the Z, I did all the proper breakin and everything, I changed my oil at 1700 miles.

Whats the lightest 18" wheel out there thats quality. Now that I have the 19's, I'm starting to become a fan of the less weight the better as long as its quality. I'm going to get one set for the track(SCCA and Drag) and one for the street.

What do you guys recommend? I'll be the guineau pig on this one and let you guys know how much 19" 3 piece wheels will affect times.

Any suggestions on wheels? Spare no expense.

Get a set of Tel stars or Drag lites 15" out back with BFG DR 275mm, get some 13" skinnies up front with 165mm tires. You will definitly pick up some time.
