Post 07 Nismo Cat-back DR's..

Beautiful night to race!! Weather man predicted rain all night. The air temp read 52degrees on my car. I didnt feel much humidity. Felt like a very fast night on the track.

Well I got addicted to the 1/4 strip. This is my 3rd friday in a row that I been. First week I got myu 13.6 and following week i ran consecutive 13.6-13.7
I still had the urge to get better times since I knew the car so much more in her. Only thing that held me back was traction those 2 weeks.
Well tonite my friend let me borrow his DR's. They were BF's mated along with ssr comps.

my only mod is a Nismo Catback. Spare, jack and tools still in the back. Drove to the track on fumes. Put in 2 gallons of 104 octane after 2nd run.

First 2 runs of the night I got 13.7@103mph with a 2.3-2.4 60's
Still gettin used to the DR's
My 3rd run, put in 104 octane (2gallons), I ran a 13.569@102.51 with a 2.065 60' (picture below) I was pretty happy with this so I let the car cool down a bit and get a bite to eat at the stands.

After about 40min of letting the car cool down. I dropped the tire psi's to 22psi. Took out my filters. Took out the spare, jack, tools. Even with the 2 gallons of 104ocatane my gas light was still on =). I really drove the car on fumes to the track.

At first I thought the printout was wrong but my friend said thats what came out. The car HOOKED!!! I powershifted. Didnt even bother lifting the clutch. I featherd the clutch from the stop revving around 5k rpms. I tried doing this again on my 5th run but my clutch got stuck on the floor so I gave up for the night and went home happy with the previous run.

Well heres the run...

R/T 1.004 yea its slow but I dont really care much about it
60' 1.786 !!!!! DR's FTMFW!!!
330 5.393
1/8 8.419 I dont know much but thats almost .4 faster then my previous runs
MPH 81.34
1000 11.037
1/4 13.182
MPH 106.58!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I went home all giddy with a best time of 13.182@106.58

Im sure my time wont stay up since there are a lot of better drivers then me on this forum. But I went home very satisfied knowing my loss in $$$ trading my 06 in for the 07 was well spent!!

I was in shock too. All these days of owning a Z I thought I was a crappy driver...well I still am. But man takin the Z to the track 3 weeks in row just helped out a lot gettin the launches down. Now I gotta do my best not to fry my clutch

CONGRATS MAN!! WOW 13.1 AT 106!!! So you think taking out the air filters and 104 octane gas helped? Also, why didnt u remove the spare, tools before?
Oh yeah and when u lauched from 5k on drag radials did you lanuch like u did on street tires just at 5k? Did u floor it after feathering the clutch? or give it 50% gas and when u felt it grip then floor it?
Thanks !

13.1? Pretty impressive for virtually a bone stock Z. Congrats and hope you can some more mods soon and run it again.

Great Job!

The weather was great tonight, and I wanted to hit the track, but work comes first.

It won't be long before an 07 runs in the high 12's. I still think I will hit a 13.1 stock, with good conditions, and the clutch problem fixed. Somebody might even beat me to it.

Great 60'!

Philude, he is on DR's, and DR's on any stock Z will break 13's easily with a good driver.

This in no way takes away from your times though Gooey. That is awesome. I asked if it was worth trading in my 03 Z for an 07 a while ago, and I got a no not really response. But let me tell you, an 07 with a Nismo exhaust, some 104 octane, and a 106.58 mph trap speed. Does that excite anyone else here?!

If you're planning on staying N/A, then yes. If you want to go forced induction in the future I'd say keep your 03.
