i dunno about you guys, but i don't think you're gonna get too far "launching" from 1-1.5k other than a bog.....unless by launch he means a normal acceleration from a stop light or something. I'm a noob to driving a manual so i guess i shoudnt talk but any time i attempt a "launch" it's around 3-4k rpm and i usually slip the clutch just enough to keep traction in the rear but it's a fairly quick smooth clutch release....i dunno, i'm probably better at doing it than describing it...

I usually launch at 3k and have the clutch at almost the engagement point and then drop the clutch, and it grabs right off the bat

let it hit redline, bounce there for a second or two, then dump the clutch.

OH man. hahaha.
On street tires launch just above idle. That is around 1800 rpm. It's not a HONDA! Let the clutch out nice and smooth and apply gas as you have traction. This should get you to 60 feet in 2.0 seconds or less.

Edit: I forgot turn off VDC or TCS if you have them.

helps if it's in 5th or 6th gear as well, saves shift time that 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th burn up

you launch at 1.5 so you dont sit there and burn rubber for no reason. i usually launch around 1.5-2 so i can get sum good speed and use the power that the Z has.

Come on man! why are you giving this guy such bad advice. To the OP if you wanna launch best put it in 7th gear and launch at 11000 RPM! That will keep you from spinning!!!

All joking aside this website may help... www.rangeracceleration.com. Its a Corvette but most of it translates to the Z. Warmmilk found the site to give proper credit.

Thumbs up

My best launch on street tires was by feathering the clutch with around 2500rpm to 2700rpm.

Hold your clutch right at the engagement point, then when your ready to launch feather out the clutch while pressing down on the gas pedal.

Hope this helps

Todd

2700-3000rpms work best.
1500rpms will yield too much bog and the best you'll get are 2.2-2.3 60' times. I don't think any of the guys that run 13s in their stock or near stock Zs are launching at 1500rpms. Well, maybe some of the 07' guys are, but 03-06 need to be closer to 3000rpms to run a good time.
